What Ball are you playing now?

I'm still looking for that 'perfect' ball. For now, I'm switching between HX TOUR, HX 2 piece red, HX red, CB1 red, and HX HOT. I'm looking to play some TOUR Accuracy TW's for a lil while until I can get my hands on some Platinums or HX TOUR 56.

HX Tour since it's inception. However, the Black Max has impressed me quite a bit. And as much as I hate to say it, I picked up a sleeve of the One Platinums. That ball is  L-O-N-G off the tee! Nice action around the green, but only average (imho) off the irons. I was hitting it about 1/2 a club shorter with every club in my bag.

This may seem really out of place on this board and most of the others too, but I just don't play the game that seriously to be "married" to one ball. I like playing the ProV1, HX Tour and U-Tri tours --- but most of the time when I'm playing a casual round, I break out my Nike T/A DDs that I buy at Sam's club for less than $10 a dozen. For less than a buck a ball, I don't care if I shred it or loose it --- and I don't think I give up a whole lot compared to the $4 balls I carry for special outings. I've got 8 dozen T/A DDs in my closet (96 balls) for less than the price of two dozen premium balls. A few years ago the DDs were top of the line and, IMHO, they're still decent today especially at the price I buy them for.

I am pretty set with the ProV1x. I have played the HX Tour and the regular ProV1.

I was suprised by the HX Tour. It is a very playable ball.

I also have a B330, but I'm not sure what to expect (other than the "hype"), so I've been in no rush to try it out.

Lastly, I've not hit a Nike ball since the double-D. Can't really bring myself to try the black or platinum.

Questions --- is there a new version of the HX Tour coming out?

I'm playing the ProV1x like most of you, but find it scuffs really easily. I got a couple of sleeves of the B330s and have played just one of them. It lasted the round looking like new. My experiences seem to run counter with most of you.

Will have to play them more to find out for myself. Too bad wet season just started.

Still using Nikes - TA2 LNGs having changed from TA2SPNs.. Before you ask, I like them, and I bought a load of them cheaply.

Tried Nike One Golds and Pro V1s, but prefer the TA2s..

  • 1 month later...

I have used many brands this golfing season this far.

Maxfli BlackMAX, Great control off the irons.

The Pro V1, perhaps the best feeling ball, I've ever played... around the green.

Srixon Z-UR. Very Long, unbelieveable high ball flight. And nice good feel.

Bridgestone B330. I noticed that this ball was pretty long, but, didn't putt as well as the others.

Nike ONE Gold. Good Distance, Very Nice Feel.

Callaway HX Tour 56..... I've gotta try that.

I have also heard that the new Wilson Staff Tx4 is a very, very good ball.

Anyone can agree?

The balls I do intend to try: Dunlop Loco HT, Wilson Staff, Callaway HX Tour 56, and Top Flite Strata TL Tour.

Currently: Nike One Gold.

Bridgestone B330 mostly, alternate with ProV1 or ProV1X as my main "gamer" balls.

On other days, when walking, or foolin' around on the course, I'll play Maxfli M3 Tours, Precept U-Tri Tours, or other balls I'm experimenting with (I just got some freebie Cally HX Hot, and Nike MOJO's that I"m going to try out tonight).
