hybrid help

non-hook

Alright, I'm fed up and might break down and buy a hybrid. I've looked into them before, but I hit a big hook when I went for one. Anybody here have a similar issue and an answer? I can't believe I'm giving up the 2. :)

i've used the taylormade rescue dual tp (not regular but tp version) and the nike slingshot tour hybrid and neither one are prone to the left side for me. slingshot tour is nice for the price, only $150 brand new with steel shaft (dgsl)

 

i know there are others that will be recommended on this forum, but these are the two that i know.

I have a Nickent 3dx DC with their NV 75 stiff. I have yet to hook this club. It's been very consistant for me, early season swing and all. :)

One tip. I don't know what kind of swing you put on it, but you want to hit it like an iron, not like a wood. I hooked mine all the time when I tried to hit it like a wood. Then, I got a tip to hit it like an iron and now all it knows is straight. Try it out.

the TM rescue dual tp is an awesome hybrid that doesnt hook, but from what i've tried the best non-hooking one is the bridgestone J33 hybrid (not the airmuscle)

try a sonartec MD, even when i try it can be hard for it to hook, but it draws/ cuts very nicely on command.

I have tried many hybrids and hooked all of them. I recently added the Sonartec MD and this is the first anti hook hybrid I have hit. I absolutely love this club!!!!!

If you are hooking it, then the problem is very possibly the shaft. You might need something with a little less torque, maybe stiffer, maybe heavier, try them out.

Cleveland HALO or Tour Edge. It's pretty hard to hook a Tour Edge with a TON of offset!

i would have to politely disagree here... offset is for those who have trouble turning the ball over from right to left (righty) or left to right (lefty)... so more offset would in turn make the ball draw more, and therefore more easily hook. that is why the average golfer would benefit from offset, while the better golfer would more likely than not suffer from having a surplus of offset, because it would make him/ her hook it more. so i wonder why for you offset does NOT make you hook it. ??????????

I've hit the TM Rescue Mid (not the TP), Nickent, Sonartec, Callaway Heavenwood, Hogan CFT hybrid, and a few iron based hybrids. The Hogan is very good if you want a neutrally weighted hybrid without a lot of offset. Very solid and easy to hit. But the absolutely best, easiest to hit accurately and straightest in my book are the Mizuno MP UX2's. Composite crown plus tungsten weights means a low center of gravity without a shallow face, which makes it far more versatile, especially from light rough. Chris at Tourspec Golf (a sister board to Golfwrx.com) can get them, if you're interested.

I have a Nickent 3dX and all I can do is hook it. The shaft is too weak I guess, but I let my father hit it and all he can do is hook it too. Which was pretty suprising to me.

Even though I think this is one ugly club....I do agree with this statement. It does not hook.

If the problem is weighting/offset, try a Bridgestone J33 Hybrid.

 

If the problem is you close the face real quick, try one with a lightweight steel shaft.

I don't like the wood style hybrids (UGLY!) So i opted for a hybrid iron Titleist 503.H. It's still a little ugly, but it does the trick on long par 3's, short par 4's and the approach on par 5's.

I have had problems hooking hybrids as well. I almost gave up, until I tried an Acer XP 17*. I was previously using a TM Rescue TP 19* and always fought the dreaded left side.

 

The Acer XP feels superb and has a nice mid trajectory. It is super easy to hit. The Acer XP is a component head - I guess you could pick one up for $20 or so. For the price of a TM headcover, you have a great little club. Due to the small outlay, it is worth a try!
