"The Professor" from Muppet Labs

Here is a blade mallet I finished for a great guy in Boston.
This is black oxide.
355 grams
'Michigan Snow' on the flange

This was a real learning experience to get the hosel transition nice.
Note the invisible weld. :)

I did not get to roll this one, it went to a pro out in Boston where it has received rave reviews. It was inspired by one of the David Camerons I have sitting in my trunk right now, which puts a very nice roll on the ball. The black oxide finish looks great on this putter, and although I'm not a fan of snow on the flange, if you're into snow it looks very nice.

I got to use it this week past...when I forgot my putter.

A great save.

The guy who owns it told me that he won considerable money in a "Palmer Shootout" at Bay Hill during the PGA show. ahhhhh to have happy player.

Glad to hear the owner likes his putter. It's a great feeling.

Out of curiosity what mill are you using? Any plans for a small CNC?

I am using a RF-31 benchtop mill( 800 pounds). It has a 2hp motor...that needs replacing with a quieter US/Canadian built motor. I do have plans for the conversion to CNC, right now I have gotten the CAD design tool ASHLAR-Vellum SOlids. Really great for doing design and analysis prior to cutting metal. When I started out 13 years ago I tended to use simpler shapes to make themass and inertia calculation 'do-able'.

I am still have debates with myself of servo control versus stepper control.

I think that the GECKO motors controllers look to be just terrific. Email me at [email protected] if you like and we can continue the discussion. I have a friend who has converted the sherline that you currently use.

I have also looked into building a hexapod style machine. but that offers a new level of headache for increased machining flexibility.
