Balance Certified? Explain what this is?

I've added the Balance Certified #9 drop in weight (90g). Someone posted this.

 

Can someone tell me what Balance Certified means and how you would add a balance certified weight?

 

Where you purchase the weight etc? What is the advantage or reason you would do this?

However, if you want the nutshell version:

 

It's simply a way to counterbalance your putter. By adding weight in the grip, you can lower the swingweight significantly. Theoretically (and this is just me riffing), this will give you more control over your putter, while maintaining it's ease of tracking (putters w/ high swingweight are easy to track, but difficult to control distance, while the opposite is true of "light" putters--many variables).

 

Me, I'm of the school of thought that thinks that while swingweight is important, it should be considered in tandem with total weight with the putter as the putting stroke is much more static. Find the happy medium that works for you (both stroke and body style should be factored IMO) and believe in it. A Heavy putter can be made to have a swingweight of C8 (same as some older Pings) with the right counterbalance, but you'll still feel like you're swinging a sledgehammer. (cool) :golfer:

Not exactly. A putter can be made to swingweight at C-8, and still be a sledgehammer....but with proper counterbalancing you won't feel it. One of the main reasons for counter balancing a club is to add weight that you don't feel, essentially because its in your hands. Swingweight is really a more effective measure of how heavy a club feels when swung than total weight, because when you're swinging a club the weight you feel is 99% of the time the weight below your hands.

 

You'll still feel the total weight when you lift the club or change where you hold it....but counterbalancing will take away most of the sledgehammer feel.

I install the Balance Certified kit in my favorite putters. I absolutely love it. I feel that it makes my stroke better...keeps my hands "quiet" if that makes sense.

 

I have the full "dealer kit" and it has the weights that slip into the putter grip before you actually cut the hole for the drop in weights, so you can experiment with the various weights.

 

I don't so much go by what the putters actually swingweight at, I go more by feel.

 

My favorite putter, my Big Oak Boston B3 also has the UST frequency filter shaft and that in combination with the weight kit and a wonderfully made head by Dave at Big Oak makes for one SWEET feeling putter!

That was me. Find a local dealer via the website and you will not be dissappointed. The results are unbelievable. No Freddie Couples putting with these things in!

Quiets the hands, less waver on back and through stroke. Effectiveness is purely determined by trial and error. I use #5 with a 165g grip...no idea why, it's just what I like :golfer:

 

It sounds hokey but really isn't. I have #2 in driver and find I'm more consistently on plane with the extra heft of the weight. Doesn't work for everyone however.
