Halo vs G5 Hybrid

Tough Decision?

I have hit both of these hybrids and they are so close. What are you experiences with these two. Which is straighter and easier to hit?

Close call, but I think the Halo is a little longer and straighter. The G5 has too much of a bias to hit it left. I hear many players have that problem with that club as well. Also, Cleveland has better custom shaft options for the Halo, Ping doesn't have much. I have the Halo 2i 19 degree with an IROD (S) Shaft and I love it. best Hybrid that I ever hit.

I would have to agree. For me the Halo is the best hybrid on the market. You can work it both ways and its long. For me the Ping has too much hook bias to it. You can also work your trajectory with the halo as opposed to the G5. I have a 19* with the SL300 shaft and I love it.

I playa Baffler, but I think the Halo is a little better than the g5. Both are awesome hybrids!!!

Well I gonna have to say G5

 

It's the only hybrid I don't hit left. As for shaft, anything in .355 taper tip under the sun is available. I carry 2 of them and really hit them well.

Interesting thread here... I have to admit, I saw a lot of shaft choices for the Halo in the new Cleveland catalog, but when I actually see Halo clubs in person (Golfsmith or any of the small shops around my area) they always have the standard Cleveland shaft. When you see the Pings in the store, you always see multiples in the Ping OEM shaft, ProLaunch Blue, and Aldila. Maybe it's just this area.

 

I have a couple of Rescue Mids that I use regularly and recently picked up a 19 degree Ping G5 with ProLaunch Blue shaft which would be in between them. I like the way the Ping looks better than the Halo, and it felt fine hitting into a net at the store, but out on the range I find that the significant offset puts me off a bit (the Rescue Mid definitely has offset but not nearly as much as the Ping). I also found that I was hitting the Ping about the same distance as a Rescue Mid 22 degree with the TM shaft. I wouldn't have expected that, and maybe it's just the conditions or my swing right now. I didn't experience any hook with the Ping, it seemed pretty straight to me. I think this one may be going back to the store.

 

The Halo has less offset, although it looks to me about the same as the TaylorMade. The shape of the head is so different that it's a little camoflaged.

Both are great hybrids that are very forgiving, but in my experiences the Halo is much longer (about 10 yards).

I owned both at one time....I kept the HALO. Much straighter and almost 10 yards longer.

I have only hit the HALO so of course I'm gonna be a little bias, but it is a great club, very long, straight, and always gives me the option of working the ball.
