Cleveland CG2 v CG4 Tours

I took both 6I's out for a spin today at the range. To be honest, I could not tell that much difference in forgiveness, ball flight, or distance between the sets. I did seem to hit more bad shots with the CG4 Tours. My dispersion was much better with the CG2's. Those bad shots were pretty bad hooks. Is the ActionLite shaft that much softer? I could tell that it was lighter, but supposedly the swing weight for both clubs are D2 even though the shaft is 8 grams lighter. Is there that much difference in the weight of the heads?

 

Does anyone have the CG4 Tours with Dynamic Golds? Cleveland says the Swing Weight will be D4 with them. That seems a little heavy.

 

I want a nice rather forgiving club. I thought the CG4 Tour would be the hands down winner, but I just did not see much difference. If I hit the 3I in each set will I see the difference in forgiveness that others talk about?

I have not hit the 4T's with the Actionlite shafts. Rumor has it they are re-badged Dynalites.

 

The CG4 Tours and the CG2's are actually similar. There is slightly more offset in the CG4's, which is probably more noticeable when hitting long irons.

 

To be honest, the biggest difference I found between the two sets is that the CG4 Tours have a higher trajectory and that the CG2's are easier to work. On shots intended to go straight I didn't find a whole lot of difference in the shorter irons and the CG4 Tours are a little easier to launch in the longer irons.

I got to hit the 4T and 2's side by side at a demo day. I pulled out the 3I in both sets, and now see a little noticable difference between the sets. I don't think there is much directional forgiveness difference, but there is a noticable distance forgiveness difference. The bad shots off of the 4T's will go considerably farther.

 

I really wanted to like the CG2's. They are a really pretty set, and I would not have to worry about a shaft upcharge if I wanted to put in DG's, but in the end the 4T's are better for my game RIGHT NOW. So, when I get a new set of irons they will probably be CG4 Tours. (The free CG10 wedge will be nice too)

 

The Cleveland rep -- stand up guy, if they employee other people like him this company will be good for a long time -- did confirm that they are re-packaged dynalights. I am looking forward to the CG4's in DG because they will come out to D4. I think I will really enjoy a club that heavy.
