Hibore and Purple Ice Shaft

Can it be done?
Ok so here is my dillema. I have a hibore.. wich has a .350 tip. I want to put a Graphite design Purple Ice Shaft into it wich is a .335 tip and comes in 46 " lenghts.

I want to put the shaft (R flex) into my Hibore head. I want the shaft length to be 44.5
inches long and I want to tipp the shaft so that it is inbetween an R and an S flex.

Can anyone explian to me the steps that will have to be done. I feel like a complete idiot asking this and I'm not sure if this is way out there and I'm just dreaming or not. If its possible.

being that I'm wanting to Tipp it and cut it down to 44.5 would I be better off Going to the 75 gram shaft?

Your help would and will be GREATLY appreiciated.

Thank you.

Not to be negative but, TAKE YOUR CLUB TO A PROFESSIONAL. The above instructions seem very simple and they are for those of us who have been doing this for a while. There are MANY ways however to mess up your club. If you want to learn, I would use some of your older stuff to experiment on until you get some experience. Thanks, Chris

I guess I don't understand why you are using a Regular shaft versus using a Stiff shaft. Tip trimming any shaft 1" to 1 1/2"s will take away from the design that shaft was meant to play to. I would think that you would use a Stiff and insert is untipped, at least this way you'd being playing the shaft the way that Graphite Design intended it to play. My .02

I do know that GD gives trimming instructions for the various shaft fitted in the various drivers, 3, 4, 5 and so on woods, but trying to tip trim to get a shaft to play up one flex is risky at best without some former knowledge of shaft fitting. Other site have led many amateur club builders into thinking that tip trimming is an automatic solution, when in fact it is not, when I hear someone refer to such and such a shaft as feeling boardy, guess what I think? :golfer:

I agree totally. I am not sure why everyone thinks they have to tip their shafts to get them to the proper flex. I think it may have to do with TV and golf magazines that post PGA players specs. "Tiger uses X100s tipped one inch so, I need them to. I am that strong"...If the manfacturer says to tip it so far for a certain club, that is what you do. Tipping should only be used as a fine tuning. Everyone is so tip happy these days :golfer: Just go up a flex or even better down one. The shaft you are using is probably to stiff for you anyway...Sorry for the rant but this fasination with extra stiff shafts and the distances people claim to hit their clubs drives me crazy. I am not saying that everyone is lying but, I see about 30 people a week looking for a new driver come through the shop. They all say they hit it 280 but the swing radar says they swing at 90...HMMM...Doesn't quite add up...
