Playing Myrtle Beach next week...

I'm leaving Monday morning to go play 4 rounds of golf in Myrtle Beach. We will be playing Sea Trail, Tiger's Eye, Tidewater and Farmstead. Anything I should know about these courses in order for me to play well. As well, any good spots to hit up while im there for after golf.

Played all 3 Sea Trail courses when I went back in August. Shot my lowest round on the Maples course, a 73. The hardest is the Jones course, because of the areas off the fairways. The rough was not only thick, but there are many mounds that run up the entire length of the holes...You'll know what I'm talking about when you stand on the first tee. But it is a beautiful track, with a really challenging par three over water on the front nine (I hit the green and made par :golfer:, so I beat Jones there! ). Greens aren't too tricky, but they have some tough spots. Byrd is a pleasure to play as well, that and Maple are more of the resort courses.

I just got back from Myrtle the 1st week of April. It'll be very windy for you, so get ready for a 250 yard drive followed up by a 350 yard drive downwind!

 

You're at sea level, so the ball will generally not travel as far as in other areas of the country.

 

Up north where you're staying, the Hooters on 17 is great (has Golden Tee Machines and pool tables). There's a Wal-Mart nearby for 24 hour beer runs, and the House Of Blues might have someone good playing (@ Barefoot Landing).

Just got back from our annual week long trek to MB...Played seven courses, Tidewater, True Blue and Caledonia were awesome. Played one of the other "Cat" courses that was pretty forgetable, I think it was Lion's Paw, heard Tiger's Eye was much better. Farmsted was so-so. Wild Wing Avocet was pretty good. Blackmoor is a "fan favorite", and the site of our "Ryder Cup" event. The greens at the first three were excellent and rolled true. None were "fast", but were "faster" than any of the other bermuda hybrid greens. I believe that Caledonia had bent greens. There's a zillion courses there, and if you're from the north like me, even the "OK" courses there are pretty decent right now.
