How much to tip NV65 to play in Sonartec

My shaft broke today

Guys I have an ss03 and the head flew off today and went into a pond. Luckily it was close to the edge so I got the head back so I am going to shove the NV65s into it that was pulled from my b-stone 460. How much should I tip it and how much should I butt trim it to play stiff. I know that the 65 is not a stiff shaft but the shaft I was thinking of putting in arrived broke today...Fuji 671te from UPS. So it was not my day as you can tell. Thanks for the help.

Per Aldila's trimming instructions, tip it 1" for fairway metals.

"Stock" 3 wood length is 43". First I'd tip it, then dry fit, and butt cut to length.

Thanks...it was already installed in the b-stone but I bet is was untipped. I think I will do the 1 inch and then dry fit. I wonder what the insertion is in the sonartec? I mean the overall length the shaft should be to play in the sonartec. Thanks.

Have had many sonartecs - all had a blindbore with insertion depth of around 1.25 inches.

Thanks Geeza...hopefully my luck will change with shafts. I really liked the stock Penley that came in it. Oh well we will see how the NV feels.

I have never been a fan of the NV, especially in the Sonartecs (even though they use it as standard in the excellent mp99). I find the Sonartacs already launch low, so a high launch shaft really helps. I went from 15 and 19 degrees to 17 and 21 for my two fairways, and am currently thinking of reshafting my 17 degree with a banzai fairway, as the stiff NT Proto I have in there now is like a garden post! I really think grafalloy could drop one flex on all their shafts and would be about right. Never gonna use another stiff flex grafalloy again! My swing speed with driver is 105 mph and I cant get them to launch properly.
