How to hit mid irons like i hit long irons?

My golf team always complains about when they have to go driver 4 iron into par 4's, but i love it. I do a lot better on long long courses, because i can hit more greens with my long irons than most people can. The only problem is that a long par 4 for me is 500 minimum, because i can rip the ball. Like last year at CIF on a 475 yard hole, my friend shot 61, the state record and had a 3 iron into the hole while i had a 9 iron. How can i work on my mid irons so i can hit them as consistant as my long irons. BTW i play blades, so it seems asif the long irons would be harder to play.

Don't worry about it, just hit a long iron off the tee, that way your definately on the fairway and then you'll have a long iron coming in. Easy. :golfer:

Yea, but to get to the next level, i have to learn to hit my mid irons like my short irons

Because long irons are longer (duh), they require a flatter swing plane. Because of this I am able to keep the clubhead coming from the inside easier, as where mid and short irons typically have a steeper angle of attack and require a quicker transition to keep the clubhead coming from the inside. I would suggest messing around with your mid iron's swing plane to see if a flatter plane will increase your ball striking ability.

 

A video of your swing would also do wonders for the players here to give you better advice.

where are your misses with your mid irons? u may have better contact by moving them back in your stance. In other words, playing long irons up in the stance is ideal, but if you are doing the same thing with mid irons, you will not have a consistent contact as you would moving it a bit further back in the stance...so you can hit down on the ball...also, check your lie angles and make sure everything is matched up
