my Bridgestone J33 Cavity .vs. Mizuno MP-32

big difference for forgiveness?
I was playing Mizuno T-Zoid Pro2's in Rifle 5.0 and recently switched to the new Bridgestone Cavity Backs in the DG R300 for more forgiveness. The Bridgestone is much more forgiving but I liked the feedback I got from my Pro2's. It looks like I can hit the Bridgestone CB's anywhere on the face and it will still go and I like that...I'm guessing that the MP-32's have that small sweet spot like the Pro2's? or if anyone has hit both the MP-32 and Bridgestone CB, is there a big forgiveness factor?

I too would love to read a review from anyone who's hit both!!!

Same story here!! I am on the verge of buying some new irons, and these are most likely the two candidates right now. My biggest concern is ball flight with the short irons. I have heard many people say the Mizuno 60s go too high in the short irons, which has led them to go with the split set of 32s 7-pw and 60s the 6-3.

Also, what about the DG SL shafts? Any good in these clubs? And finally, Bridgestone and Mizuno have very different ideas when it comes to lie angles. I believe Mizunos are around 2 degrees flatter....which suits me fine, as I find many brands, including Titleist, way too upright for me.

919THI 11.5° / 1° open
929hs 20° / dead square
775hs 21° & 24° & 27°
Mizuno JPX 800 Pro 6-pw
MP-T11 50° & 55° / MPT4 61°

I've hit both and think they they are comparable for forgiveness (both pretty forgiving).

I have the J33cb's and think they are awesome. They look great at address (better than the Mizzy's imo) with thin topline and very little offset. Beautiful transition from iron to iron. They are soft (not quite a soft as the Mizzy's, but plenty soft). The sole design will not dig or skip and is very versatile from tight lies, rough, lush lies, everywhere.

The J33cb's are a beautiful set of irons for sure. I've owned many irons and these are one of the most impressive. They fly on a controllable mid-trajectory and are pretty easy to hit. I would not recommend them for high index guys, but any decent 10-12 index iron striker can play them effectively. The low index guy can really make them sing.

The J33cb's are awesome in every respect. I kinda like the MP 32's as well, but they do not set up anywhere near as well imo and fly higher for sure. The 32's are more rounded by a lot in the toes and are more offset (at least visually) as well.

Good luck in your quest.

I LOVE my J33 CBs, best I've played since the RAC MB Tours. Look great, play great, feel awesome, and are fairly forgiving.

Ahh...THAT'S exactly what I want to hear!!! Being that I just baught a set off of Ebay! Can't wait to get them....I have high hopes that they'll knock my Nike Pro Combo Tours outta the bag!

I'll be honest, I used MP-32's for about six months, then tried iron shopping for something more forgiving. I played X-Tours and 735.cm's, and neither of them are significantly more forgiving than MP-32's in my hands. I know it sounds crazy, but I'm still sold on the MP-32's for solid single-digit handicappers. I think they are just as forgiving as any player's cavity out there, and a lot more beautiful.

I'm a 9.9 index but I'm not playing like it right now, and I just feel like I need more forgiveness than those types of irons. I've decided to go all the way up to MX-23's to get the forgiveness I'm looking for.

Much better looking club than the PC IMO. I will be amazed if you don't agree. They are one of the best looking CB's I have seen in a long time.

I have played the 32s for over a year and love the feel! They are terrific looking irons, and surprisingly easy to hit for a reasonable ball striker. That being said, I think the B'stone Cavity Backs are the best looking new iron I've seen in a long time. I demoed them indoors this past winter and thought they were nice, but definitely not more foregiving than the 32s.

I really wanted to like the Bridgestones and was seriously considering buying them, but they had a harsher feel, and I couldn't justify replacing the Mizunos.

Same here...I went to the MX23's from the MP32's and I've been striking the ball much, much better with better results. I'm a 10.6 index and found that while the 32's are more forgiving than your average blade....they certainly aren't what you'd call a "forgiving iron". If trying the MX23's though....be aware of the strong lofts! (e.g. the PW is 46 deg). I am now 1 club longer with the 23's, but at 1st, I flew many greens after hitting what seemed like perfect shots with them.
