Low Spinning, Low launching driver

I'm looking

Can anyone reccomend a low spinning/low launching driver head/shaft combo? Right now I have the first generation Launcher 460 in 9.5* with an Aldila NV 75 stiff. Swing speed is 110-115. The ball launches so high off this driver that any wind whatsoever and I'm either losing distance or the ball carries off into the rough. I hit it soild and straight, but the hieght is killing my distance and accuracy. I feel it has to do with the fact that the loft may be too high for my swing speed. I hit the ball from the inside, with fairly quick tempo, so it's not like I'm hitting down on the ball causing more spin=more hieght.

So, I've been looking at 8.5* lofts with the launcher Comp (even though it may launch high) but what would be a low launching shaft? I've only hit it into a net recently. The FT3 felt very solid as well. Also, how does the B-stone J33 perform? I'm looking for a boring flight.

The Cleveland Van will be in town Mid-May so I'd like to know what to try out shaft wise. Plus, this way if I like the Comp, I can walk away with the right shaft that day. I know I have to try the stuff out, but I just want the opinion of the masses here.

i originally had the nike sasquatch 9.5* w/ aldila nv-75 stiff with a 100-105 swing speed. my launch angle was 12.5* and spin, at its highest was 2,100 rpm. with your 110-115 swing speed you probably would get the ball a little higher with this combo and get enough spin for the ball to stay up

There are very few production driver heads that will do what you want. Almost everything is targeted at lower swing speeds.

 

I have a similar swing to yours (115 mph driver speed, strike it from the inside, spin it more than I'd like), and the only driver I found that produced a low, low spin shot was my Titleist 905S. I have one with 8.5 degrees and the Fuji Pro 95 shaft, and it gives me the perfect shot pattern.

905s for sure, its the only 400cc driver with those specific traits, low launch, flat ballflight,low spin.

905S, and check the shafts too. With your swing speed, you may want to try a firmer shaft, which the bore thru on the Titleist may help that.

You're on the right track. My ss is also 111-114 and my launch angles with most drivers is 14-15* with about 3500rpm spin rate. I have an FT-3 Tour 8.5* with a 757 speeder and it works perfectly. Nice boring trajectory. 12-13* launch, 2500-2700 spin and around 270-280 carry with 10-15 yard rollout on lm. Real world performance has been very similar if not a little better. Very solid performer.

me too. i got a 905s and it really helped my launch conditions. another option might be the 983E.

The AGT Aurora is a quite low spinning, low launching driver with just about any higher kickpoint shaft.

I realize these are old school and maybe somewhat hard to find but I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Taylor Made R510 TP, and with something like the Fuji VTLT, Fuji Vista Tour 70. Even a few of the younger crowd would need Viagra with this set up. :golfer:

Bridgestone J33 460 would work well - low launch and low spin (I believe even less than the 420).

Adams 430q or 460d with the q launching a bit lower.

 

If you launch or spin these too high it's a swing issue. I have yet to hit something that launches so low and so low spin except MAYBE a FT3 Tour or AGT Aurora
