Cleveland CG10 Blac Pearl Wedges and Scratching

Does anyone play these and have they noticed how easily that they scratch? The face and sole of mine are really beat up after only one round of play.

ya i have the 60 and it does scratch and wear REALLY easily but thats the trade off for the looks and performance and softness of it :golfer:

I don't have the pearls, I have the satins. But, after 3 rounds (including 3 bunker shots on the 58*), minus a few sole scratches, they look new, including the faces.

I have the Cleveland CG 10's in Black Pearl and in the Satin finish. I played the Satin finish all of last year and I didn't notice any real bad scratches in them. Yes...there was normal wear but nothing that effects play in anyway. As far as the Black Pearl wedges go, I really don't know how well they hold up seeing I haven't played a whole year with them. I have played 9 rounds with them so far this year and they still look good. The finish is starting to wear a little on my 56* where the ball makes contact with the face but that is normal for any club that has this type of finish.

black pearl finish on the CG10's definately wears easily.. I have a 58* and seriously have a silverish splotch where the ball make contact on the face.. and the sole is silver.

 

Still a great wedge though... my wedges get so much abuse it is expected.

There has been a thread on this before. I have both a black pearl and a satin CG10. The finish does become tarnished easily but it is all aesthetic. Take a look at the grooves and you'll see that they are just fine and it wont affect performance at all. IMO the black pearls hold their finish a little better.

The sole of my CG10 black was really wore out, but just like tarik said, the groove on the face is still good.

Thanks guys. I have the satin in my Lob and Gap and they look great. The feel of the Black Pearl is great, I was just very suprised to see that much wear after only one round and a few bunker shots.

used a Blackpearl CG10 for about a month now,

 

definitely looks like they are a year old...

 

gets worn so easily because it eats up the golf ball,

 

but i DO love these wedges!!!

I have three black pearls 52 56 and 60 deg and they all wear on the face and the sole very easy but they still spin the ball like I love and in my opinion are the best wedges for my game.

yea i have a 54 black pearl and it does wear quickly but not real bad thing, the wedges are sweet, very soft, put a lotta spin on it, and when hit well it is so pure

I have a CG10 52 and a TA900 56. I have to say the TA900 is about 2 years older than the CG10 but the CG10 has a lot more wear.

 

I don't have much scratching but I don't use the CG10 out of bunkers. One thing that I have noticed is the black pearl finish has gone matt silver on the sole and hitting area.

 

It's still an awesome wedge regardless. The spin off it is truely awesome.

 

50yd pitches from the fairway are so much fun, it has given me the confidence to just hunt the pin and see it bounce a couple of times and stop dead!

Yeah, they use their color in the "wear areas" pretty quick. But you

gotta love the spin. I really don't care too much about looks anyway.

Seeing as how the first thing I do to a "new" lob wedge is gring the

heck out of the heel and trailing edge.
