On Saturday I felt it was time to go out and get off the fence and make up my mind what Driver to get.

I had it narrowed to the Taylor Made 460, Nike SQ, and the Titleist 905r. I had hit eacjh of them on different occasions but never the same day and never with my current driver (TM 580 with NV).

So I get on the monitor. Swing speed in the mid 90's carry is about 230. Now we have a base line to judge the other 3. These were all 9.5* stiff shafts. In the case of the 905r I hit the stock speeder and the NV.

All exceeded my current driver by varing amounts and with less side spin. I normally play a Titleist NXT tour. With that ball I was not getting enough spin and the launch angle was a bit low. Switched to a Nike ONE platinum an was able to get the numbers up but not to where I'd like them. Pro suggested switching to a 10.5 so I said why not. Hit all again with a 10.5. We went through the numbers and I never could get enough spin from the 905r though it was the straighest of all the drivers. So we go back and forth hitting the SQ and the TM. The frugal me was kinda hoping for the SQ as it's $100 cheeper. but as it worked out the TM gave me the best numbers. carry is now in the mid 240 range and the right side of the fairway is gone unless I want it there. Now this was at the Golf Galaxy and I had chosen the $30 fitting for 20 minutes but they worked with me for well over an hour to make sure we got it right. Kudos to them. Only thing I may change for now is the grip as I prefer the golf pride new decade multicompound on my woods.

Played yesterday in some blustery weather and hit some shots to places I had never reached before. None of the tee shots went too far off course (hmm those might have been the guy swinging the club) and all had a nice trajectory ( I was hitting pro v1*s). I will now be auditioning balls to see which work best.

Thinking of the Nike's NOB and NOP, Bridgestone b300 and b330's and the prov v1 and v1* but am open to all.

So, the TM you picked up has the Re-Ax shaft in it?

Of the balls you are thinking about- the ProV1 is the least straight for me with driver. The Nike's, ProV1x, and B330 (have yet to try the B330s) are all straighter off the tee for me. I don't like the ProV1x and B330 that much from inside 75 yards.

To me- the NOP is like the ProV1x off the tee with a slightly softer feel and spins like the ProV1 from 75 yards and in (for the most part).

Your specs sound a lot like me. I'm about 96-100 off the launch monitor and about 250 average off the tee. Let me give some great balls to try.

Yes it's the standard re-ax shaft. Feels much better than the stock shaft that was originally in my 580.

That sounds like fun right there. I have a friend that did the same thing here. I tell you, the guy had him in a 11.5* G5 and he was BOMBING it on cold mid March days. I was so jelous I went and bought a higher lofted head also and did the same. The launch monitor process you went through is a very fun time. I learned a lot.

Now the indian needs to show up, cause I know it isnt the arrow.
