Initial impressions:Adams A2tour proto review + pics!

Yea, I'm pretty excited! I have two rounds under my belt with them so not nearly enough to accurately review but hear are my initial impressions: I must say I never thought I would be hitting Adams irons ever but they definitely look the part of a true players CB. The square toe is very appealing in almost every way. I had thought I was getting satin but they arrived in chrome. At first I was a little dissapointed but the chrome is really growing on me. The feel is very soft and I mean very soft! Very similair to a miura forging. (i think a lot of it is the Tour concepts as well.) Head to head the A2tour vs. the Atour, the A2tour was definitely softer feeling. Distance seems to be about on par with my last set of X-tours. (lofts are identical) Ball flight is what is really impressing me so far with these. I have a very hard time turning them over which is a good thing for me as I tend to miss left. If you tend to miss your shots near the toe these irons will not be for you. I hope to play at least 2 or 3 times next week so I will keep everyone posted. These new forged version is news to me. They appeal to me much more than the cast set. Will these forged sets be tour only as well? Thanks!

Yeah, tour only sounds right to me. why would adams want to sell a beautiful club to the general public. That would be a bad "idea". Ok, off my soapbox.

Also I thought 'a tour' was available as custom option???

I talked with Mike from Adams just a few days ago. Cast 100%. I forget the exact grade stainless. 355? Looks like some folks are confused/misinformed.

 

The forged head is in development and it is not the A2 tour or Atour. Totally different iron. We'll be having Adams on to chat in a few weeks so we can get all this cleared up.

 

The only difference in the A2 tour/Atour right now is off-set. Red has minimal off-set. Black has basically zero. Satin or chrome does not matter. Same iron just different finish.

I would think it would be totally misguided for Adams to do a forged iron. What would be the market??? .001%----can't even give away a good design with a history---Hogan. Stick with what they do best. The Tommy Armour forgings are all the rage for example.

So if cast, it looks they are very soft...according to your experience...have you hit 300 tours? if so, do they feel similar. the 300s feel like butter... :-)
