Graphite shaft has smoother feel compared to steel shaft.

That's why he has them in his irons too.

I think the satin is softer and he gets a better feel from that in his LW, which he uses a ton. That said, why wouldn't he use the same finish throughout his set, whatever the finish?!

I've started to use graphite in my wedges at first just to be like big JD. I know it sounds sad, but long storey about it.

 

Well I have used them for a few weeks and having graphite in my wedges they really have a nice feel to them, the shafts are ust tour weights 115's. So they are as heavy as steel but more smooth feeling.

They are Grafalloy wedge shafts designed just for him. About 110 grams and stiffer than all get out.

I have one of his vokey's (52) with his signature shaft in it and his intials are stamped on the head. The club feels great. The shaft is a penley X with his logo and name on it. It does have a great feel to it.

I'm going to disagree with you. I know this is authentic because it was purchased from his JD's store by me. There was some stamped with Dr. Chipinski and others with his intials. He sometimes has a few tour issued clubs he wants to get rid of in the store.

just a note..

 

JD was in town today.. bnok signing.. Big Poppa was out of town.. but i met his wife, mom, 3 yr old daughter and 2 week old son at the signing. waiting in line for almost over an hour..

 

we each got several books signed but his wife couldn't find Big Poppa JD wedge.. so after we left she went back home and found the wedge and took it back to the signing.

 

JD almost shat himself. He was soooo excited about seeing the wedge.. he said." hey that was mine!" he was very happy to sign it and pleased to see it.

 

Big Poppa daughter got her pic with him and i got a few on my cell phone that i will post tomorrow.
