Driver and 3 wood shafts?

Should they match

I have a Cleveland driver with an Aldila NV65 stiff shaft.

Am looking to get a Taylor Made V-steel 3 wood (because my son stole my 3 wood)

Should I get one with the same NV65 shaft as my driver?

If you like the NV65 a lot than you definately could use one in a 3W. You don't have to though. Many people have different shafts in their driver and fairway woods.

 

I personally prefer a heavier shaft in my 3W than my driver.

I have two different shafts in my driver and 3 wood, both feel great to me!

If you want similar performance but a heavier shaft try the NV 75 or 85 in the 3 wood.

Surprisingly, the NV 65X works very well in both of my fairway woods.

I have the NV in my driver but have a NV Xtreme in my 3 wood, also have a Speeder 869 in my back up 3 wood. The excepted theory is to go with +20 grams of weight in your 3 wood to help with tempo. Generalisation but its not a bad one;

 

65-75 gram driver shaft

85- 95 gram 3 wood shaft

105 - 115 gram irons (ie most all steel)

I think of a 3wd as a fairway wood which in my mind should have the same feel and consistancy as my irons so i use what ever shaft i have in my irons which is usually dgs300
