I like my 460SZ but i'm not too crazy about the 10.5*

Hey Everyone:

I'm thinking about pursuing a new driver and I really need some help. I'm getting set to go into a Tour this season with my first event coming up on May 9th. I like my Cobra 460SZ but I'm not so crazy with the loft. It is a 10.5* head and feel that maybe a lower lofted head would suit me better..

I was wondering if some fitters had some insight for me. My current shaft is a Accuflex AccuLAUNCH 80 S flex at 44.75" long. My swing speed is 107 mph at impact but I do peak at 117mph just prior. My release is just a little early as I saw at an extensive fitting about a month back and I'm bleeding 10 mph as a result. I'm working hard to get that 10 mph back. With clubhead speed like that what would be a good loft to have. I'm looking for a penetrating ballflight with the added bonus of having roll that I currently don't have with the 10.5*. the 460SZ is a very high launching driver. with your ss, you may want to look at a 9 degree SZ. My swing spped is in the 119-124 range and i demoed a 9 degree SZ and i hit it a mile high with no roll.

 

I would suggest a driver that has a slightly higher COG. Check out anything from Titleist or Taylormade. For me, my 983K is perfect.

Funny you mention that the ballflight with a 9* SZ was too high as well. I demo'd an F Speed in 9* and it was way too high with no roll just like you observed.

 

Thanks for getting back to me about this. The irony is my back-up driver is a Taylormade R540XD that is sitting in the closet. Last year, a chap I was golfing with let me hit his 983K and I loved the feel and the ballflight with it. I'm not too sure what loft he had but I do know it was the Grafalloy Pro Lite (35?) in it. I just need something that I can get used to by May 8th...my first event is the 9th.
