Wanted to play the 905R...

Spin rates won't allow it!!

This sucks! :)

I wanted to be using the new 905 R driver this year, but after an extensive fitting my spin rate is too hight with it and I have to go back to the 905 S!!! The new 905 R is the straightest driver I have EVER hit, but it goes about 10-15 yards shorter than the 905S in the same loft (8.5*)!!

Does anyone know of a shaft/loft combo that would remove most of the spin from the club?

(Most likely a low loft, and ?????? for the shaft!)

Could be the 905R's actual loft is higher than labelled. Perhaps try another one to see...usually Titties are pretty good though.

 

The 905R is pretty deep front to back...COG movement towards the back of the head will cause more shaft deflection forward through impact causing higher effective loft......could be a compound problem here.

 

Less loft/mo' tip stiff shaft. Accra is a Titleist upgrade now....could try that as they use std retail Accras...not extended tip versions. Therefore they be playin' mo' stiffer in the tip than usual. Move down a flex to compensate for the borethru and 3.25" hosel.

one of the reasons it is so straight is because of the excessive backspin. if you were able to lower backspin with a different shaft or lower loft then it wouldn't be as straight.
