Highest launching fairway wood shaft

Need help for low flight of sonartec fairways
Hi guys,

Well I really love the feel and workability of my two sonartec np99 fairway woods (17 and 21 degrees), but I am having problems hitting them high enough. This is kind of weird, as I have always fought a high ball flight in my irons.

Anyway, I removed the stock Aldila NV (just horrible) and tried a TT crossfire in the 21 and a Comp NT in the 17. I have to say I am not really impressed with either. I chose stiff flex in both and am starting to wonder whether regular would have been the better choice, especially with the Comp NT, which feels way stiffer than an S to me.

So my question is what is the highest launching fairway wood shaft? I prefer a little more weight (maybe around 80 grams) and my swing speed is 103 mph with driver with a medium to quick tempo. I am a picker rather than a digger.

I have heard good things about the .335 tip Fuji Banzai, and their website says it has high launch. Anyone know anything about this shaft? Or maybe the ys6 fairway?

This might be one for Joe K, as he seems to be the resident expert around here!

I had a 85 gr Bonzai put in my V-steel 3 wood and its nice. It get the ball up quick and is long. If you hit them low this might be what you want. Shaft has a very good feel to it.

Thanks for info Bill. Could you tell me whether it launches higher than the original shaft the club came with? If it launches as high as you suggest, it could be just what I am looking for, especially given the slightly heavier weight.

i have the speeder 661 in my sonartec 14* and it gets up nicely...i know the specs say its a mid-high kick point but for some odd reason this shaft has been the best combination i've seen...if you have any problems finding the 661 you could also try the new purple ice from graphite design...it's a nice low torque and mid kick shaft...sometimes when the tip section on a shaft is too low or soft it has a tendency to deloft and close the face at impact...best of luck!!!

No question, the Accra HF Fairway shaft will do the trick.

Interesting what you say about the accra. Their website is not the best, but it seems to be a high launching shaft. Can you help me wit the flexes? I usually play an S in most fujikuras.

Thanks is advance,

Alex

Sorry I missed yur post! My bad being to busy at times.

If I were you I would do my home work first studying shafts spec.

You want a shaft that is low to a mid kick w/ a softer tip design. Tought to say on a heavier version shaft such as 80 gr. I wouldn't mess around w/ hybrid shaft to installed it on a fairway wood, You need to understand the exact charracter and flex to get it right.

Double check your swing patern w/ this FW on a Video lesson to see what is exactly wrong, Club or you?

Changing shaft only means you are compensating it on the equipment, you are not fixing your swing ( if swing is the problem ).

NP 99 is supposed to be a higher ball hitter w/ less spin due to the brass ring on the back.

You can contact me and talk to me after you check all these factors to get you back in track.

Good Luck!

Joe

ps: me myself is a low ball hitter especially on a FW. Imagine that you are having this problem w/ a 17*. IMO this is seriously not equipments only.

Sorry for the late reply, I forget about some post. I had S300 steel in it before I went with the Bonzai, so it doubled the height. Its very easy to get the ball in the air, yet it does not balloon. I am very happy with it.
