TTDG Shaft to Replace PX 6.0's

Need Help for New Set of 735CM's

I'm ordering a set of chrome 735CM's. Have played TFR's and PX 6.0's over past several years, but looking to go back to DG's. Like the heavier feel and lower ballflight.

My driver SS is 110-115. Hit my 7iron 165-170 (MP60's with PX6.0). Have a pretty aggressive move at the ball. I've hit some clubs with S300's, and feel like I need just a little more stiffness for control.

Pretty sure that X100's would be too harsh. But considering hard-stepping S3's or soft-stepping X1's (once or even twice).

Anyone with similar swing and same dilemma (between S3 and X1)? Let me know what worked for you.

With your ss, I would think the x100s would be fine. If it were me and you didn't want to go the x100 route, I would softstep the x100s once. I think that would be a better fit. However, try out the x100s straight up before you do any stepping.....you may like the feel (probably won't be too harsh).

 

How did the PX 6.0s feel to you? You almost could have played the 6.5s with the ss and swing characteristics you describe. How did that combo play in the MP60s - I've got some on the way....

The MP60's with PX6.0's are a pretty good combo. They are long!. But I'm looking for better control and a slightly lower trajectory. I think that the PX6.5's would have felt too harsh to me. I've played TFR 6.0's in the past and the PX's feel much stiffer.

 

Even though I'm getting older (46), I'm hitting my irons further than ever. While I've been doing more weight-lifting and golf-specific stretching, I also attribute a lot to the PX's (lighter, lower spin, etc.). But the lighter shafts make me feel like a pull shots more frequently than with the heavier DG's or even TFR's.

 

I was just at the range yesterday and was honestly hitting my 7 iron 180, which I've never done before recently. But that clearly would have caused people to say X100's for sure. My more typical distance is 170. There were a couple of young guys next to me who wanted to try my clubs because of the shafts. They said they were also hitting them about a club longer than with their shafts with DG's.

 

BTW, what club/shaft combo do you play?

I've got a split set of Mp32s and 60s with PX 6.0s on the way. I'm a little concerned about the stiffness of the 6.0s. I wasn't able to get properly fit (various reasons) so I relied on a friend that owns a golf shop and the Mizuno rep to tell me what would be best. I was fit for TFR 6.0s, so I guess I won't be terribly off. I've already spoken to a certified rifle guy that will softstep if necessary. My former set (if anyone is interested) was the Ping i3+s with stiff shaft. With the demo MP60s with DGs300s, I was at least a club longer. I got a great deal on the PXs, so I figured: what the heck. For reference, my driver ss is 105 - 110, 5 iron ss of 93 - 96 (190ish yards). My 7iron distance is 165ish.

 

I'm surprised the PXs didn't give you the necessary control.....from what I've heard and seen, these things are deadly accurate.....probably the most consistent shaft on the market (along with the Tour Concepts). I really think you should give the X100s a test before you do any soft-stepping.

I have x-100s in my mp-32s and have no trouble with them. I previously played TFR 6.0s for several years. At first I was concerned that the x-100s would be too much for me, but I did not find that to be the case. and I LOVE the ball flight I am getting. You could also go with S-400s.

i dont think you should be afraid of the x100. sounds like that is the perfect shaft for you. it's not harsh at all in my opinion. the solid feel makes ball striking more satisfying and feel more powerful.
