Taylor Made R580 TP reshaft

Recommended Posts

Hi there

Thinking about reshafting my R580 TP at present it has a Fujikura Vista Tour Series 70 S in it. I hit this quiet well but it lacks feel and I am just looking for somethng extra.I have the following shafts available to me

TM RE*AX TP 75 S

Grafalloy Blue S

Gralloy Prolaunch 65 S

Alidla NV 65 S

TM SPEEDER 757 S

Sorry I don't have any monitor figures. But I also play a Callaway FT-3 TOUR 9.5 NVS S I hit this well but have to be carefull not to overpower it as I will over draw it. My average distance with this is around the 260-270 distance. I play of 8 H/C would be less only for poor iron play.

All opinions welcome

the head of TM 580 can feel quite dull with some shafts I would recommend you to try

1. graphite design YS7+ S flex,

2. grafalloy nano technology (NT) prototype

you might want to find out first what shafts weight that you feel most comfortable with. You are choosing the shafts with different weight at this moment. it can make a big differences in feel and distance.

Thanks for you reply. The 5 shafts that I have listed are what I have. I have played them all except the TM RE*AX tp 75 S which I am hoping fits between the Speeder and the others. The 65's I play well with but tend to overpower

The Tour Series I hit well but looking for that bit more of a kick. Speeder I hit okay but I find it lacks feel. I guess what I am really asking is where the RE*AX fits in this line up.

Has anyone tried the NV 65 S or the PROLAUNCH 65 S in this model how did you get on.

Cheers for that was hoping that 757 was stiffer and RE*AX 75 tp was slightly less

Guess the seach goes on might try the Prolaunch first though

Anybody try the RE*AX 75 tp in a 3 wood I had a r7 tp with Vista Pro 80 S which loves to goes left if not watched carefully

I guess I didn't see where you were asking which of the 5 shafts was the most stiff. The 757 is the firmest in flex of the above shafts, the best shaft for that head would most likely be the REAX and second would be the 757. Between the two Grafalloy shafts, they are a toss up and the NV-65 is a clear last. In my opinion. :)

I had NV 65 in the 580 before and it just feels dull. I had to pull it out right away.

I think the reax and 757 from the TM TP is not as good as after market one. It just feel different and should be softer in flex than specified. I'm not sure about the reax but most of the shaft that come pre installed from the factory tends to be different ..... except from bridgestone, the only brand that I feel they give the premium shafts not the lower specs.

In this case I think you only left with grafalloy blue and prolaunch. If you like the higher launch go for prolaunch, lower flight go for blue.

Where are you getting your comparison facts and figures? Have you tried these shafts from Taylor Made TP drivers with either Fuji REAX or Fuji 757? Have you taken several drivers of the TP lines and swapped out those TP Fuji shafts with the same Fuji shafts in non TP line? By chance did you frequency those TP Fuji shafts and then have those Fuji shafts you replaced in those Taylor Made drivers frequencied also?

Thank You :)

No actually, I have not tried 757 personally because it's a little heavy for me. I'm talking about what I found out in most stock shafts. I tried the speeder 661 from TM R7TP japan specs compare to the speeder 661 after market is different. Also Nike diamana shafts are totally different from the aftermarket diamana. The aftermarket diamana just outperform the stock nike diamana shafts by far. The Aldila shafts in Titleist and Ben Hogen drivers are also different from aftermarket aldila NV shafts.

All I'm saying is when you want to compare the shafts and buy a shaft, make sure you know the different between the shaft that come with the club and aftermarket one.

Why knock shafts that you haven't tried, namely the Fuji 757 TP and the REAX. Instead of knocking on shafts, why don't you give a review of the shafts that you have tried and what you like and dislike about them but in all fairness, I think that you should try them before you knock on them. :)

well, that's just my humble opinion. You may or may not agree. I'm just trying to say there are differences between shafts wearing same badges. It can mislead people to judge certain things.

I'm not sure how humble it is but it is an opinion without ever trying them out. :ok: The world is Flat! :)

Don't get so sarcastic here please :ok: , I'm just contributing what I know from my experience. I didn't try 757 because it's a little heavy for me 77 grams with low torque of 2.5. I prefer my driver with lower weight between 60-65 grams I tried speeder 661 which is 71 grams and 3.4 torque which I couldn't hit it too well. I'm currently using Tour AD M65 for my driver and I prefer this shafts over the speeder, maybe because my swing speed is not up to the speeder and that's my humble opinion.

Seeing that you are using Rombax 6V05, diamana 63, and 757, what's your comment on YOUR's?
