Using spare shaft

Maybe a hybrid

I have a spare Graffaloy Prolaunch 75R pulled out of a 3 wood that was made for me but never used. Would that be OK to use in a hybrid if but trimmed to the correct length. I have never made a club before but would rather use it than leave it lying around as a wasted $50. I know that there are specific shafts designed for hybrids but will this be OK?

yes it can be done but you need to be careful of the shaft tip size. Most of hybrid heads require .370 tip to insert into the head while most of the driver shafts are .355 tip. this means that the head can be quite loose and can comes off easier if not installed properly. I have mine NV in the halo also and haven't had any problems yet.

Does an adaptor exist for .370 / .335 reduction or is there something substantial to add to the resin that would make the fit tighter.

Easy, just buy a brass shim, any golf store worth it's salt should have them for you.

 

The issue I see is that by tip trimming it too much, you might ruin the shaft's tip action and end up with a piece of rebar. Be careful with tip trimming.
