Driver =$150 + $300 shaft = $450
3 Wood = $150
Hybrid = $120
Irons = $600 plus reshaft $400 = $1,000
Wedges = $450
Putter = $150
$2,320

Assume an average life of 8 years (I keep my stuff a long time) = $290 per year or .80 per day

80 cents per day!!!

I'm just under $1000, but I'm a bargain shopper.

Ping I5 irons used from a fellow WRX-er - $300
Cleveland 58* wedge - $70 new
Nike Sumo2 driver - $180 new
Nike Sumo2 3w - $120 new
Yes Tracy II putter - $120 new
Ping G10 hybrid - $110 new
Ogio Stand Bag - $75 new from ebay

I have another hybrid from my previous set (Adams A2), and a 52* wedge from a neighbor.

My total cost is $975 :partytime2:

But if you throw in my GPS and pushcart it puts me at just under $1450. And if you throw in classes and lessons...well...it's a lot higher than that. :)

Nothing wrong with having an expensive bag, or a cheap one like mine. It's your hard earned money so spend it on what you like. There are a lot worse things you could be doing...like spending it in a strip club :vava:

There seems to be a lot of criticism of people who aren't very good at golf but have nice equipment. Just remember that some people may plan on taking golf pretty seriously but are slow at getting better. That is me. I played as a youth and developed some pretty bad swing habits. I started playing regularly again (15 years later...only played a few times a year for the last 15 years) halfway through last season but didn't do much more then once or twice a week for 9 holes with a friend. I really enjoy playing and practicing and plan to do a lot of it this year. For that reason I really wanted to get a set of clubs I liked and was going to be happy with for a long time so I could really learn how to use them well. I'm terrible...I currently shoot 100+ and have a pretty expensive bag of clubs but I'm out at the course or range 5 or 6 days a week right now trying to get better and get a consistent and repeatable swing. My goals are to be under 90 by the end of this year and hopefully breaking 80 on occasion by the end of next season....I want to make sure I have clubs that I like using and that can take me there.

This made me think. I spend a lot of money on clubs constantly buying and selling but my bag is on the inexpensive side because of Ebay:

Driver Titleist 907D2 - $100
Titleist 909F2 3 wood - $120
Bridgestone J33 5 Wood - $45
J33 Airmuscle 3 Hybrid - $7.00 - that's right, best buy on Ebay!
4-PW Bridgestone J33 CBs - $275
Mizuno MP T-10 Quad 54 and 60 wedges - $180
Slighter Seattle Putter - $150
Ping L8 Bag - $40

Total - $917 - Not bad and am very happy with these clubs.

Mine is less than $1000. Being in the industry has its perks. Can't imagine what I would have spent so far if I had to pay for things. My shafts are easily over $1000 and many of the putters are worth over $1,000. I can't imaging spending that much on clubs, I remember in high school when I got my first new set of clubs. I didn't get my first new driver until being put on developmental staff and it was given to me. Very grateful for what I have.

Disregard all the equipment I bought for tweaking and building, the bundle of shafts in the corner, the backup iron sets, wedges, putters I didn't like but don't want to sell, various drivers on the rack like the putters, extra sets of grips I bought because they were cheap on Ebay, practice grounds equipment, I probably have less than $1,000 in what's in my bag....but maybe not.

MP-60's - $225
L4V X - $110
Speed LD 3W - $75
(2) Idea Pro Hybrids - $110
(3) SM Vokey's - $150
Cameron TeI3 Newport bottom stamp - $200

I probably don't even have $870 in all this because I didn't even pay for 2 of the wedges and my Hoofer. I got the putter a month before it went retail (1996 maybe?) and is probably the only thing that will never leave the bag. I actually don't even have $225 in the irons as I bought them for $225 with PX's but sold the shafts for $150 and put in a set of S300's I had laying around. I guess if you count balls, shoes, gloves, etc. I might be able to squeeze out $1000. I get a lot of equipment comped or at a PU price so I will never have much money in my equipment.

If i were to add up the MSRP figures then here is what my bag is worth at retail

$1000 only covers my irons. With the price of equipment today, most of us on Golfwrx have bags that exceed $2000 or $3000 dollars. When you include GPS, headcovers, sunglasses, etc., mine is over $3000 and that is why I never use the bag drop except on my yearly visits to Bay Hill. Until I am ready to load it on a cart, it stays in my trunk.

OK well lets see.....

I tend to buy all lightly used stuff or last years stuff, with the exception of my spankin new mx-200s but here we go....

Driver (nickent 4dx cyg w/ 3 shafts and 2 extra cyg hosels) : $230
3 wood (nickent 4dx evolver, doesnt work with cyg unfortunately): $90
3+ Hybrid (5dx): $50
4 Hybrid (5dx): $50
Irons 4-pw (MX-200): $580
GW (Nickent arc): $30
SW (nickent arc): $55
Putter (used TM Rossa Siena blade) : $35
Ogio Ozone 2010 bag $120

around $1275ish

plus GolfShot GPS for ipHone $30

for swapping out also have a Tour Edge mallet putter ($40), Nickent ARC Lob ($40), 5dx 3 hybrid ($24 used), 3dx evolver 3 hybrid ($60)

Im looking to pick up a 4dx 5 wood on ebay for a reasonable price, even though im liking the 3+ hybrid fine in that yardage gap

might be time to start shaft ho-ing to, and its time to sell my set from last year which i wont get much out of probably
