Lol, I dont even want to say....

R9 SuperDeep = $600 (I Paid $450)

Adams Pro Gold Ozik Altus = 200 Retail (I paid $60 new)
BStone J33Combos 700 (I paid $325 new 3 years ago)
TM XFT 56 & 60 = Priceless (I paid $200 Even for both clubs)

While I appreciate those who have the money to pay full retail for stuff, I feel good when I get bargains, and I tend to brag about it (that's how momma raised me).
I'm a recovering club ho, figured out a few years ago when I stopped playing competitively it's generally the arrow when things aren't going well. I'll use this set till it falls apart.

Current gamer bag:

Cally FT5: $65.00 new old stock (just bought it)
Nickent 4dx 3 wood: $40 used w/shaft upgrade
Mizuno Fli-hi 18*: $20 used
Ping G2 3-PW: $150 (yeah, I carry a 3 index, but love me some ping forgiveness..and they fit my tall butt)
Vokey oil can 52, 56, 60: $60 for the set used
Bullseye: free
Old school Anser: $20
8802: free
Cameron newport: $35 (garage sale)

So, even if I put my "expensive" Cameron in, I have $370 in my bag....which is free because it's a team bag (I'm a coach). Balls are free (again, coach thing), gloves are on sale, FJ classics last forever and tees are cheap.

My hats off to the 3k bags in the room...but I'll take used or old stock all the way to the bank. 3 grand won't fix a poor swing.

I would venture to say that many members have more then $1k in shafts alone. Maybe you should have said who has less then $1k...or who has over $3k.
[/quote]

$3k is a much better threshold. My putter was $500.....
If someone plays Honma.... well, then the base should be raised to $5k....

I have purchased all brand new clubs and my bag is less than a grand. Honestly, I buy brand name stuff - I just buy sale and closeout stuff. I swap some used stuff in and out, but my current setup was all purchased as new. I have a high handicap so If its been made in the last two or three years its good enough for me. I can't take advantage of the best technology so I wait until the current stuff goes on good sale (and becomes not so current).

There should be a golf idiot index, take your bag total - actual prices paid, not retail, then divide by your handicap and there you go, If your under a certain number, your an idiot. For instance, someone with a $1k bag and a 10 cap would have a Gii of 100, no problem there. 1k bag, again actual out of pocket, and a 30 'cap - your a 33, that should be in the idiot range.

I was just looking at my Bag and got me thinking how much i have spent on having a set up I like. Im not taken in consideration of retail price but of what i have spend on it on buying my different equipment and im just over $1k for what i have payed for my stuff. This is not considering all the other back-ups have just laying around. I only have a couple items i bought new mostly my bag consist of used clubs. We must really love golf ;)

Over a grand with ridiculous ease.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

Yeah, reaching $1000 in your bag is pretty easy, especially to the members on this site. The scary question, and possibly the most painful is how much money is OUTSIDE the bag? The back-ups and trial and error clubs. That value can be greater than what we actually have IN the bag...................... I need to go get some TUMS and sell a few clubs.

Well, which bag?

My main game bag now is made up of a used Cobra X-speed driver, Cobra Speed LD-F 3W and 5W, Ping i15 Hybrids (purchased new), Ping ISI-K irons and wedges, Scotty California Sonoma (also purchased new). Given everything else was bought used ... it is STILL the case that the bag checks in at over $1000.

My back-up bag is a bit pricier, as that's where my G10s (irons, hybrids, wedges) and Rapture V2 WRX build sit (along with two Cobra FWs) ... that bag (at the prices I paid for the stuff) runs well over $2500.

And then there's my "going to Florida" bag ... which is, aside from the SC Sonoma, all eBay or used-bin picks ... and it, too, comes in at over $1000.

I can't quite go the sub-$500 route. Bully for those who manage it.
