X Fairway vs. Big Bertha '04

Which Callaway to go with???

Hello everyone,

I've been playing a SQ 13* and I'm thinking of trying a 15*. While the SQ is really long when struck well, it's too inconsistent. I've always like the looked and feel of Callaway's fairway woods the most, the S2H2 and bore-thru. Plus, for some reason, even though I guess it shouldn't really matter, I like the flatter lies of the Callaway woods when compared with most other companies.

Basically, my question...is the X fairway wood worth the extra money, or should I go with the Big Bertha '04 and save some money?? Also, what are the major difference of the two?? I have hit the BB '04 before and liked it, I'm just worried I might lose some distance because it goes to high. Help out a lefty with very limited demo capability. :)

Big Bertha 04. Possibly one of the greatest fairway woods ever made. And imo it was until the sonartec craze got to me. I like the 04 because i hit the ball low so i needed higer launch but i dont think you will hit it to high.

I've been playing the X 19* for a couple of months and it's worth the money in my opinion. It sets up well, it's long and easy to hit from the tee or fairway. I never played the 04 so I can't give a comparison but, give the X a try and I think you'll be happy.

I’ve not tested many other Callaway’s however have tried at various times over the last two seasons titliest, mizuno, Macgregor and Cleveland, the winner for me was the Callaway X 13* tour with (yes) a stock fuji shaft. I prefer the low penetrating ball flight that allows me a slight draw that looks awesome on the dog leg. If price is a factor (it was for me) ebay worked wonders for less than $150 shipped, granted I have local golf pro who does wonders for me on other items he couldn’t top the ebay price for the X 13* tour yet.

Will post soon. I have a BB04 3w with a 757 (that cracked last time out). I have a Xtour 15* arriving today. The BB04 was long. It seemed to have a hotspot for a fade though.

The X Tour is really good. I found the tour 15* easy to launch and quite good from the tee as well. Think of the original Steelhead only new and improved....and black. Roll Tide.

I have had both, currently own the X tour 13º with sppeder 757. Much easier to hit off the deck than the 04.

I would probably go for the X Tour 13*, no doubt about it. However, Callaway doesn't make it in LH. :) What's the deal Callaway?!?!?!

 

Which club would you guys say is better off the tee? I've never had a problem hitting fairway woods off the deck. I do have problems though on the tee with shallow face 3-woods. I want something with a deeper face than the SQ. Also, kind of off topic...anybody else notice the SQ fairway is kind of dead feeling? It just doesn't have the punch my Heavenwood 2h does.
