The best fairway woods?

Looking for info on the best fairway woods out. Your thoughts. Am pretty much talking about head performance and not shaft. Looking for a hot face and a designt to get the ball up out of tight lies or moderate rough. Distance is important to me as is getting a higher ball flight. My x wood im using now is good off of a tee or with a good lie but face is too deep and wont cut through any rough really at all even the first cut is tough if its sitting down. Also same question but about hybrids. Thoughts on those will be greatly appreciated as I dont have a fitter around here and courses usually dont carry demos and they wont let you hit new ones.

Thanks in advance

The Nike T60 is tops for me. A very hot face that launches and long and high shot no matter what shaft you hit. Put about any Grafalloy shaft in it and you have a great club. I have three extra brand new ones for the future in the closet. But Im a little wierd like that. A dang pack rat :)

The SQ is also nice and a little easier out of the ruff and off of the deck but I still prefer the T60. Thats my 2 cents.

Can't go wrong with TM V-steels. It is so easy to hit and has a penetrating trajectory. I would also recommend the adams RPM LP woods. I think they are the easiest woods to hit. It gets the ball up in the air no matter what. TM and ADAMS both have a thin shallow face, but SQ has kind of thicker face than TM and ADAMS.

1) TM V-steel

2) ADAMS RPM LP

3) ADAMS Ovation

4) NIKE SQ

If you can't get the ball up out of the rough with an x 3 wood then you are REALLY going to struggle with other fw. I use my X-Tour 3 from everywhere. The head is compact and heavy enough that I can go down and get the ball out of almost any lie. I was even practicing hitting out of deep divots at the range last weekend. I purposefully hit shots like that with different clubs, irons etc. to give me the confidence I can do it and also that I can get good contact from any lie. Most people find them more difficult to hit off the tee because they are such low profile compared to most other 3 woods.

I can't believe this post has gone this far without any mention of Tour Edge Exotics. If price isn't an issue ($350) you won't find anything to compete with this as far as distance is concerned, and that goes for any swing speed. Also, the head size is perfect (in my opinion) for hitting off the tee and off the deck. Tour Edge will order and install any shaft you want if they don't stock it, it just may take a few more days for the final product to arrive to you.
