Champions Tour

Does anyone care?
Does anyone even remotely care about the Champions tour? I put on Golf Channel and of course they're showing the senior circuit and focusing on Hale Irwin, Wayne Levi and Loren Roberts .... I'd rather watch Paula Creamer or Michele Wie hit balls on the range than watch these sour puss's play. I sure wish the Golf Channel would replay the ladies events instead of the senior tour. Just my two cents ....

No interest in the "Champions" tour for me. Sure they can still play, but are well past their primes and it's only going to get worse. Besides, if their big "draws" are Hale Irwin and Loren Roberts they are in trouble. Is there a Hale Irwin fan on the face of this earth?

They should have more LPGA coverage. It's more exiting, interesting, competitive, etc...

You're kidding right??? Tell me there's a smilie missing. :)

Hale Irwin has $23,103,588.00 of career winnings in his 37 years of being a professional

20 PGA tour victories including 2 US Open victories

44 Champions Tour Victories

8 International Tour Victories

He's the only professional to win 5 straight PGA sanctioned tournaments.

NCAA individual title in golf and at the same time he was a two time All Big 8 selection as a defensive back in football for the University of Colorado.

To top it off Hale Irwin is a total class act. He's a very nice guy and very appreciative towards the fans. I've been watching him since I was a young boy following him at the Hawaiian Open/now called the Sony Open. Now I happily watch him when he comes to Turtle Bay for the Champions Tour along with the other past greats of the game. To truly appreciate the modern game of golf, don't forget it's history.

I'm originally from Detroit (in Milwaukee for college), so I would go to the Ford Senior Players Championship every year. After going to this tournament on multiple occasions, I've had a little bit of everything, from a great little talk with Graham "Swampy" Marsh to Gary Player calling me overweight (as a 12 year old). While there are some great guys out there, from my experiences, I've found the "sour puss" reference that Steven made in the first post to be spot on.

Played 9 straight years in 2 day pro ams with this bunch of sour puss's. The only one I found to even remotely fit that description was Lee Trevino. It seemed that he hated having to play pro ams.

These guys are great and it will definitely get better when a lot of the "old" guys on the regular tour come out. I can only hope they will play. Just a little lull now in the big names.

But I will admit that Jay Haas does not have Natalie Gulbis's legs.

I'm not talking about success, but charisma and the ability to draw fans. The senior tour ratings have been steadily dropping since Irwin has been marketed as the big draw after his dominance on the tour.

You may be a Hale Irwin fan, but you have to admit the guy isn't exactly a big draw. I'm not knocking him as a person or a player, just saying that people just don't tune in to watch him.

drop the senior tour on the golf channel, and give the lpga tour a ton more coverage, and I'll bet ratings shoot up. As it stands right now, everytime I'm looking to watch Golf Central on the weekend, I've got to wait an extra 3 hrs because the Champions tour broadcast is on.

Even when I become a senior golfer in the future, I have no urge to watch the seniors play.

I don't mind the Champ. tour as much as I don't like the style of coverage. I find the coverage styel to be like the Euro tour... which drives me nuts. Its just soooo slow and boring. It seems CBS, USA, NBC do a much better job of keeping things moving.

I agree that they should show more LPGA, I love watching them play and the coverage team on the golf channel is pretty good too. Dotty Pepper can be down right insulting sometimes... I love it.
