Vacation golf courses

I'm gonna be in Phoenix 1/16 thru 1/23 looking to play some cheap rounds and some pricier rounds The expensive ones are easy to find, what are the hidden gems. On that note has anyone played at Mission Royale it's new and looks nice but seems to cheap to be true. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated here in the great white north.

Mission Royale is in Casa Grande a bit south of PHX. It is a decent course and priced accordingly. Nothing special but at this time of year good value.

Hidden gems...well thats hard in winter here. But here we go:

[list][*]Trilogy at Vistancia - far out northwest, but good price for a top course[*]Golf Club of Estrella - far out southwest, but good price for a top course[*]Raven at Verrado - far out southwest, but good price for a top course[*]Poston Butte - far out southeast, but good price for a top course[*]Trilogy at Power Ranch - East Valley with good deals and have improved the course over the years[*]Southern Dunes - Maricopa(south) but just a good course with great prices[*]Hillcrest - Very nice course with lots of great holes; northwest and senior heavy but good price[*]Corte Bella - a few times daily; very nice private course[*]Red Mountain Ranch - a few times daily; one of my favs!![*]Quintero is now open to the public and can be had for a good price compared to other courses; one of the best but in BFE, but worth it!!![*]same as above for Superstition Mountain; outstanding but higher price[*]Anthem - same as above; outstanding 2 courses and worth the trip north[/list]a little lower on the scale but considerations: Vistal, Mountain Brook(underrated but senior heavy), Coldwater(OK), Copper Canyon(BFE, but ok if price is a consideration), Foothills(deals galore, and a pretty decent track in the winter).

I wish I had some extra cyg adapters I will pribably buy one of those 4 or 6 shaft packages currently on ebay. I think my ball flight with the 10.5 head/ V2 stiff, is too high so I will probably pick up a 9.0 if I can find one. As for the pricier rounds I will probably only have one, because this is supposed to be a budget vacation. We are staying at The Legacy Resort, but I'm not sure if that will be it. Right now the list is as follows.

1. Estrella Mtn.
2. Poston Butte
3. Vistal
4. Vista Verde
5. Southern Dunes

If you are going to make the trip out far west to Estrella, then play 36....DO Estrella in the morn, then have lunch at the Verrado Grille and play Raven at Verrado in the afternoon....I do this 5-6 times a year.

Let me know what you are considering for the pricier round, I can show you how to get some of the very high price courses for less than 1/2 price.

I still say walking the TPC Scotsdale Champions Course for 44 bucks is the best deal in town if you can get a tee time

One more question for you local guys, what is the latest time I should book, and still be able to get in the full 18. I know pace of play is a big factor in booking tee times, especially during tourist season.

Man, youre going to be spending A LOT of time in the car!

Also, I'd tee off by 1 just to make sure you finish in actual daylight.
