Question for Slighter putter users

Was wondering if there are any retail putters that can be tried that have close to the same feel of these putters. I have always wanted a custom putter but would like to know how it felt before i bought it. I would probally go with the black finish if that matters. Any feedback would be appreciated. They are about the same as a Cameron or Bettinardi, but you can get all the customization you want.

 

Don't be scared to pull the trigger. Tom will make you exactly what you want. You won't be disappointed.

the reason i am asking is because most scotties feel harsh to me, there is only one that didnt it was a old catalina 2 model. i was wondering if they had a softer feel than those putters. thanks

My Slighter Redmond and T.P. Mills hand-made both feel softer than the retail Camerons I've tried including the SS Prototype (center shaft) and SS 2.5. The increased softness of the Slighter and TPM translates into much more predictable distance control for me.

I find the Sligher has a much softer feel than retail Camerons.

Tom has a tendency to tip his putter shafts a little more than usual. It's one of his signature items.

 

When I received my putter, it felt firm. Distance control was great but I wanted a less firm feeling on the tip of my putter. I asked Tom how it was setup - and he told me about his tipping. We talked and concluded that I would be more comfortable with less tipping. I sent it back and Tom reshafted with less tipping.

 

Wow! What a difference.

 

Very soft, pleasing feel.

I agree with SwingMan. These putters feel great, much softer than retail Cameron's. Don't hesitate. Tom is great to deal with, and to this day is still the best feeling putter I've ever tried.

I have 2 Slighters and also have a Catalina 2 which Tom refinshed for me.....The Catalina 2 has a softer feel as it is made out of carbon steel while my Slighters are 303 SS...The Catalina 2 is one of the softer Scottys so its a tough comparison...The Slighters have a firmer feel.....Almost like a Pro Platinum but a tad softer it that helps....

I have a Slighter Seattle Prototype made for Blade Golf and I agree about the much softer feel than any retail putter I have tried, including the Camerons. It was originally a stainless finish and Tom refinished it for me in a 3X black finish and all I can say is wow. I have a Newport 2 1997 gun blue which comes close to the feel but IMO, the Slighter is still softer and much more solid, mine is made out of 303 SS steel I believe.

You can also have Tom make the putter out of carbon steel for like the Catalina was made out of. This should make it feel better.

I have a Slighter Tacoma and love it! It is probably has the most feel out of any putter that I have. You know when you pure one. Don't be hesistant to order from Tom, he is very accomodating and will create a putter that you will be pleased with.
