Why is it so different?

 

I just startedtplaying tournaments again since high school(19 yrs) Im a 3 handicap and I've shot 80

81 and 84 in my first 3 tries. All 3 rounds just cant seem to stay a way from at least 2 big no's per round

and guaranteed to miss a putt of 2 feet or less. Im nervous yes. But not shaking or sick feeling. I just cant seem to not hit that pull into the muck at the wrong time. Today was the worst.

Qualifier at my home course and dead out double the first hole by hitting second shot dead left in the water

get it back together and am 3 over thru 14 and miss a 1-2 footer to make bogey. Than i collapse my way to 80 on the way in with two 3 putts a double from the middle of fairway and 2 missed birdie putts from 12-15 feet. How long does it take to get comfortable in these things in order to perform near your potential

Hard to say, especially when it is all in your head and you know you can play better than you are. There are tons of tips out there for the mental game (just search golf digest, golf channel, etc).

 

Focus on the fundamentals and focus only on the shot in front of you at the moment and where you want it to land. Biggest tip of all....relax.

 

Stress can kill or help your game. It can only help if you know how to handle it.
