Shaft Help - Please!

I need shaft advice because I'm never going to get myself fitted -

I swung a Speedstick, the stick that measures swing speed, and it read 85-95 on a swing where I was not loosened up, i.e., walked into the golf store, saw it and swung it. Now I'm guessing that my SS is a bit faster than the 85, but probably no greater than 100 - when I'm warmed up.

Here's my question:

I try to model my swing after Nick Faldo, form, tempo, etc.

What shaft would I need for my Driver, 3 wood and irons? What do yall recommend?

I use a 983k, stiff flex with speedster shaft, 3 wood, s300 true temper, same with irons. My shot is usually a slight draw or a push. of course an occasional fade.

This isn't a joke, but I usually hit my driver pretty well, ranging between 275 to 310, depending on the strike and wind conditions.

7 iron - 160-165 with no wind.

I played baseball all throughout highschool and college, so I understand the mechanics of any kind of swing, what it takes to hit it straight, how smooth your swing is, tempo, etc.

what do yall suggest?

I'm serious about this. It's Friday night and I'm planning to re-shaft tomorrow if necessary.

Well by your iron distances you can't go wrong with an s300 if you are playing the DG shaft. or a 6.0 if you are playing a rifle shaft. Either will be about the best you could get based on the numbers, but I would get fit.

 

The speed stick is a nice training aid, but the speed is usually wrong.

 

As for the driver, the titleist speeder you have is an ok shaft in the s flex.

 

If you must spend money, try an aldila NV in your driver, you will freak out at how much better of a shaft it is. it feels like you hit the ball with a spring. I would try a 75 s-flex or a 65 s flex.

HI, Your welcome. I have hit lots of shafts, but I think for the money the aldila is great. I can understand if you want to try something else The speeder 757 s flex if really good, and worth some serious consideration, I also like the accuflex evolution, and I think the graffaloy nt is top notch also. I am playing a diamana in my driver it's a good shaft but it was also 300 bucks, and aldila in my wood. I think it is the firm tip that I like on the NV. very stable, and I also like the fact that you can't feel the kick point. The shaft feels like it flexes all the way through. I have played a lot of grafaloy blue, prolaunch, v2, and harrison, but for me I like the aldila.

 

Yes you are right, the 85 is the grams, and the r is regular.

 

I have played golf for 26 years, I am 33 years old. my swing isn't the fastest, but very sound. I play at UGCC, it is a private club. I play almost everyday weather permiting. My handicap is 7.something or 8.something. I haven't picked up my ghin card for a while, but my club keeps my scores.
