new HX tours

so the newest version of the cally hx tours claim to be more durable. any opinions? i love the ball but can't get more than 9-10 holes out of one ball where i can get a couple rounds out of a pro-v1x

I feel like they are more durable than any other ball I have hit...

Nike, Titleist, and the like.

The "improved" HX Tour really is, improved.

Still not up there with the Pro V1 I'm afraid. I really hoped they would sort it out as, in my view, the HX is the best ball available. Better than the original HX Tour for sure but not good enough to win over the masses.

I just picked up a dozen of the new ones. I play tonight and will try to post first reactions tomorrow.

I did notice that the cover feels ... uh, stickier, than I remember. Maybe I just got a really fresh clean batch. Or maybe the stockboy spilled his pepsi. :)

I really like both the HX.Tour and the HX.Tour 56. I have not desided which I like more though. The Tour is harder and does not get as much greenside spin, but in mid-season the greens i play are always soft so it might spin enough. The 56 feels better off the putter and checks up more with pitch shots around the green.

They will probably be the ball I play with this year.

I had tried the HX Tour when it first came out and abandoned it because the paint kept coming off. I wouldn't cut the cover, necessarily, but the beige splotches really distracted me. Recently, the owner of a local golf shop gave me a 2-ball pack to try out. I have been impressed. I usually only get 9 holes out of a ball anyway, and this new version lasts at least that long. I can identify with the "sticky" feeling too. I wonder if they changed their urethane in the cover or the paint/coating on the cover?

Funny, My wife plays the Pearl HX's and it has a slicky cover too, I just assumed it was due to the Pearl Finish. Weird.

Any, I have not tried the new HX Tours or HX Tour 56's but I love last years HX Tour 56's. Once I run out (Got 3 dozen for XMas) I'm going to pick up a Sleve and try them out.

OK, after one league round (9 holes), I'd say the ball I played held up pretty well. It had two scuff marks at the end, both the result of meeting a 58* SM Vokey ... so I can't really fault it there. I do think the HX dimples make the ball play better in the wind. I didn't have any balls really balloon last night, and it was blowing pretty well here in Ohio. I think it is better (not perfect, but better). I wasn't taking the paint off with every lofted iron shot like I sometimes have in the past. Distance was good. Spin was probably adequate. It wasn't really a good night to judge spin (damp, thicker grass than usual), but I did have one shot that did a nice two hop and stop to five feet (I missed the putt of course). It is right up there with the top couple balls (Pro V1, B330S).

I think the new HX.Tour balls are alot more durable than the old ones. Plus, I think there are a couple more yards of distance in them. And they're still realtively soft... I have not tried the new HX.Tour 56s.

I really think this is a great all-around ball.
