let the chatter begin

Hey, I know there are a lot of New England area WRX'ers out there. Makes sense really as the last few months make it tough for any of us to golf, thus sitting in front of a computer screen obsessing over golf equipment and the like seems like a fine way to pass time!


Anyways, seems a while ago, last fall, there was some chatter about trying to get some groups of members together for a round or two. There are a bevy of courses as we all know we could play, and much like the board welcomes golfers of all skills and backgrounds, we should too.

Anyone interested in trying to get a few foursome together when the weather clears and play Red Tail, or Pine Hills, or Blackstone, or etc, etc, etc, etc...

Sounds like fun; better still if it's a weekday.

 

But my home course on the South Shore is seriously wet right now; I would imagine a lot of courses in eastern Mass. are taking a beating this week.

Count me in too. I would agree that we might have to see how the courses dry up for Eastern MA though.

Count me in... altho' I'm about to change jobs & won't have as much time during the week (drat!) so I'd vote for a weekend with enough notice to plan other things accordingly.

 

I have a match play qualifier tourney at my club this Saturday... I'm dreading just how wet the course will be and wonder if we'll play at all! :)

I think that would be fun. I go to Pinehills about 4 to 5 times a year and just played the Nicklaus Course 2 weeks ago. I'd definitely be interested, maybe in a few weeks when the courses are perfect. I'd drive to redtail too, its about 50 min from me. Thanks.

I'll be there representing men in their mid-30s who took up the game AFTER getting married, buying a house, and having a child...thus my handicap mirrors my age.

I am open to just about anything. During the week is fine, hell I will bring a customer and expense the round! As a sales guy, I can do that as well as make it to just about any course we deem to play.

 

First things first, head count...

I would definitely be interested. I live in Cambridge and have only played Fresh Pond. Anyone familiar with that goat track will understand my eagerness to play a better course in the area.

 

Weekdays work for me and it would be great to meet some of the other boarders.

Never played, but the pics on the website always looked good! Anyway, for the best golf, gotta go west out to 495. I live pretty close to you, and the only course inside 128 that I played is Granite Links, well worth it but a bit pricey.

Fresh Pond isn't a terrible course, but it is extremely limited. You are pretty much hitting wedge and short iron approaches all around the 9 holes. However, they have a very nice little pro shop.

 

I have heard that golf is best about 25 miles outside of the city. That is where I am headed this summer.

Gotcha. I find that a lot of the courses around here were squeezed into not enough land. There's actually a 14 hole course in Framingham, the owner though he was going to get another parcel of land from the state and the deal fell through! It's pretty much a mix of 315 yard par 4s!
