when i reshaft mine, i just cut off and drilled out the shaft. the head has a composite top that can seperate if you apply too much heat. since you don't like the stock shaft anyway, it should be no big deal for you to destroy the old shaft. i cut mine right at the ferrule and then drilled everything out, working from a small to large drill bit. then you just need to get a new ferrule/adaptor and install the new shaft. i suggest getting the billy bob ferrule from golfworks so that you can adjust the face angle.

Did this same thing. Worked no problem. Was able to reshaft with a .335 tip with the clock hosel adapter and opened the face up to square. The retail heads sit a bit closed. I got an adapter from MyOstrich Golf.

my 5 wood (18*)was pretty shut and i clocked it 2* open, it measure out to about 16.3*. looks dead square to slight open now. been the only fairway i have ever had confidence in.

from what i remember, i think the shaft will go about .25" past the adapter. the "hosel" has a taper to it to accept the shaft past the adapter.

Buy the shaft adapters from Golfsmith, Golfworks, etc. You can get one that will allow you to fit .335 shafts instead of the usual Callaway .350 shafts. Just be careful on how heat is applied to the head. A decent club builder should be able to remove the existing shaft from the head with no problems.

Just a note about the adaptor: if you want to still use a .350 shaft, all you need to do is drill out (or sand) the adaptor until it fits the .350. Very easy to do.

Ok, I don't get this. You clocked it open to square and that lowered the loft?

Best way to remove the shaft from the hoseless Callys is to cut the shaft about 8" from the club head (so your puller has something to hold) and using a heating rod, heat it from inside the shaft. Be sure to use the Cally ferrule puller (avail at GS or GW). I wouldn't recommend heating from the outside. The paint came off one of my FT-iz fairways with the ferrule and shaft. Not too bad, just around the ferrule. Tried using a heating rod with the other with success. Just takes a little longer and more patience.
