question about shaft
I was just checking to see if anyone has used this shaft, and how they rated it. Also, does anyone have the specs for this shaft? I just bought a Taylor Made R7 TP and it has this shaft in it. What is this shaft comparable to? I normally play Fujikura Speeder 757 our Spec X. Thank you for any info you can provide.

My Driver Swing Speed is 145-155. I average about 260-280 on the carry 300-340 on the roll. I have been playing the Fujikura Tour Platform Series 27.3 X flex shaft and was hitting it good till it broke. I just want to see how this would compare to it.

Please don't take offense to this, but something's not adding up here.

You're not swinging the club at 144 mph, if you did you'd be CARRYING it 340 routinely and you name would end with Zubak or Fister.

I think you meant to say you're BALL SPEED is in the 144-155 range which would put your swing speed in the 96-100mph range. If that's the case and you're carrying it 260-280, you're beyond maxed out and shouldn't be looking to change anything. Also, consistently achieving 40-60 yards of roll is something few people can do. . .

Secondly, the Tour Platform is a polar opposite of the Protopype. The protopype is a super stiff super high kick shaft that really takes a serious load to work properly. Hank Khuene played one for a while. Here are the specs:

The Tour platform is low kick, softer bend shaft that suits an smoother, earlier releasing swing.

Give it a shot, but I predict low and right to be the result.

I'd get another Tour Platform and get to a fitter to see what's going to work best for your swing.

I would assume you mean ball speed...

340 with a 145 to 155 ball speed? must have very very fast and hard fairways

those are the stats I recieved when I got fitted last week at golfsmith. I have an appointment to see Chip Usher next week to get fitted w/ a new fujikura. Here are my distances per club:

LW-105 yds

SW- 115 yds

GW- 130 yds

PW- 155 yds

9- 165

8- 175

7- 187

6- 200

5- 208

4- 220

3- 235

D- 310-350 don't know which direction though. sometimes left, sometimes straight, sometimes right. normal is a draw.

My club has nicknamed me Donkey Kong. I am thinking about getting it engraved as it fits me. i am 6'4" 245 Lbs. Just wish I could control my driver more. I average par to +3 on my rounds. on the days when my driver is working and i hit the fairway, i am normally sub par. shot a 68 w/ my pro last week.

I play at southern links country club in statesboro Georgia. you can call up there and they will all vouch for my yardages. i actually understated them a little. The one advantage I do have is being US Army Spec Ops, ,I have a ton of upper body strength to generate torque with. I don't appreciate being called a liar and when i know that at least 5 pros can vouch for what i said i hit then I know I am right.

I don't think anyone here means to call you a liar. However, if I were to tell you that 2+2=8, you probably wouldn't believe me would you. That's essentially what you've said with the numbers you presented. Either you do swing the club at 145-155 in which case you should be putting up ball speed numbers in the 218-233 range. Or, you would be creating ball speeds in the 150 range and would be carrying the ball in the 220-240 range realistically.

It's entirely possible that the launch monitor or simulator you got these numbers from to have given you innacurate numbers. All we're saying is the numbers don't add up. . . .

BTW, when and where did you serve, and which SF Group are / were you with?

My problem is that I still after 14 years of playing, cannot fing a putter I am comfortable with. Some days, my putting is awesome, but other days, i have no feel t all. I don't know what the problem is. I have a new scotty coming in tuesday, but i have played all the new scottys, and none of them have made a difference. I just have a bad problem of pulling the ball just a little. Anyone have any tips or drill on how to fix my putting. As i said about 75%of the time, it is good, it is the other 25% that raises my handicap. Has anyone used one of the putting arcs? I am thinking of getting one. Also, if anyone is interested in a scotty, let me know. It is a brand new Circa 62 #3 W/ the UST Frequency Filtered Shaft in it. I am going to stick w/ my 8802 and get it working better. Got the new Taylor Made Rac TP Y-Cutters in today. I ordered the 52.08, the 56.12, and the 60.06. If anyone has not tried these yet....get them. They are awesome. You want to talk about spin. I landed a ball on the green today and spun it 30 feet back into the pond. That sucked, but I was still pleased with the wedges. now I have to get some PX 7.0's to put in them. Once again though, if anyone has some tips on how to stop pulling putts, let me know. i normally just pull it like an inch off line, and i miss alot of putts right over the left edge of the cup. Thanks. Oh yeah, what is a good long drive head and shaft combo. I was thinking of going w/ a bang head and an accuflex shaft. Anyone have any ideas. My frieds are pussing me to go long drive, but I have no idea what equiptment and my R7 probably won't cut it in that league.

  • 2 weeks later...

My name isn't Zuback or Fister but i do compete in some of the LDA events. I can vouch for the driver distance although i would have to say he is actually around 135 clubhead speed. He carries it around 310 but i can also vouch for the fact he has no idea where its going(sometimes). I am trying to get him set up for some remax qualifiers as we speak. I just thought i hit it a long way. My specs are 124 and 187 club and ball speed and i launch it between 14 and 15 degrees...I can hit it a little bit.

Just out of curiousity, is your name choeppner? Reason I ask is because you both are typing from the same computer. :idhitit:
