New to board and always lookin for someone to tee it up with

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow golf addicts!!

I moved out here last summer and have been playing quite a bit of the sweet courses out here in the valley since then. I've already hit up most of the top 20 courses so far. I'm looking to play some courses that I haven't already played and especially some that I've been hearing such good things about. Not looking to pay an arm and a leg like most of the tracks out here are charging at the moment. The courses I haven't played and want to try out are; Southern Dunes, Dove Mountain, Vista Verde, Wildfire (Faldo), Raven at South Mtn, Legacy, Las Sendas, Superstition Mtn. I'm sure there are more but thats the short list for now! haha

I live in the far west valley so I play quite a bit at Palm Valley, Wigwam, Verrado and Estrella. If anyone is ever lookin to play on one of those tracks hit me up anytime. I usually like to tee it up first off to avoid the rif raff of the 4-5 hour rounds. In a perfect world everyone would play at my pace of 2-3 hours a round. biggrin.gif

I'm playing to a plus 2 right now and starting to get my game tight so if anyone is looking for someone to add to their group or even just someone to tee it up with I'm down.

Look forward to it getting warmer and the rates to drop so I can add to my list of courses played. rolleyes.gif

Anyways look forward to maybe meeting some of you and playin some new tracks.

Peace,

Jared

Welcome to Arizona. Great place for golf. I'm still a member at Southern Dunes even though it went public, so I get preferential tee times. I've never played a round over
four hours there. It's a great test of golf. You are welcome to join me anytime you want.
I would also be interested in playing Verado. Played there in the AZ Amateur right after it
opened and would like to play there again. Let me know. Thx.

I want to get out to Dove Mountain sometime this summer. I'm on the East side of Tucson. I too prefer to avoid the hullaballoo of the long afternoon rounds. I'm generally free every Sunday, let me know if you want to tee it up.

I actually just went and played the course today. After I posted earlier I called them and got the golfnow rate and went and played in about 2 hours. It was an awesome course to say the least! The greens were a bit bumpy but I loved the layout. I shot really well considering I'd never played it. I guess by just bombing driver on every hole I took out the option for trouble. Well that and I hit it long and straight all day. biggrin.gif That always helps. I can see how a double digit handicapper might not enjoy that course too often with the fairways being so tight and the greens all fall off. I love links style courses and will definitely be playing there again! Aaron in the proshop is a decent guy as well.

Let me know when you are heading out that way and I might be down to try my luck again. Guess its hard to not like a course if you shoot the way I did today.

Verrado is a great place to play. Fairways are wide open and greens roll really true! Just don't like the winter rates.

I really want to play Dove Mountain! I went and watched Rory McIlroy play in the match play on wednesday and was really impressed by that course. Might be the nicest layout I've seen out here in AZ. Might change my mind after playing it but I'd like to think that I could score fairly well out there.

Let me know and I'd definitely be down for the drive down to Tucson to play that gem of a course. I'm sure the rates will be very fair in summer too!

Dove mountain is a small treck from the west valley! Better bring your A game putting wise greens are tough but I shot 75-73 out there middle of the summer. Welcome aboard. I am James the local thread killerrussian_roulette.gifrussian_roulette.gifrussian_roulette.gif

Yeah the greens looked punishing on some of the holes! 3 and 18 come to mind as being brutal if you're on the wrong side or above the pin. I'll most likely be waiting to play out there til summer rates are in effect.biggrin.gif

  • 1 month later...

Might be up for it? Which of the 2 are the better tracks? I've heard about the Duke that its alright. Haven't heard anything about Club West. I'm all the way out in BFE "Buckeye" so anywhere that way will be a bit of a trek for me. What time u thinking? I'm not much of an afternoon player especially if its crowded. Isn't The Duke out by Southern Dunes?
