Augusta Pines and Gleannloch Pines Going Private

Looks like Augusta Pines and Gleannloch Pines are going all private. Two of the better courses in the Spring area. I like to do most of my practicing at AP. Its $8 for all you can hit and the practice area is pretty nice. They are in the process of building a Massengale Golf Academy and Ping nFlight center there on the property. This will be the second nice practice facility to go all private like that. They did it a couple years ago at the Tournament Course at The Woodlands.

I'm a member there. I know the owner and the head pro very well. They WANT to go private. There are not enough members yet to do that. They are offering a deal to attract members. If they can get enough to join, and keep them, that may get them to the point where they can go private. It's not a done deal yet.

i live in gleannloch. they've been saying they want to go private before it was even sold to the owner's of AP. i hear this stuff every day and i believe it's hype to get more people to join. if GP didn't take out their only chipping area(which was in bad shape to begin with) in order to put in an island green 28th hole, i'd probably be a member at the moment. $400 a month for both GP and AP is a little steep when I can join blackhorse for 300 and the courses seem to be in better condition. not to mention one of the 9 hole sets at GP has been closed due to the construction of the island as well.

Well from what it sounds like this is all just a bunch of smoke and mirrors in an attempt to drive up membership but not much else will come of it. Thats good as far as im concerned because I like both courses and I know I wouldnt be getting a membership if it came to that.

Went by the GP range today to practice and the 9 that was closed seems to be reopened now.

You can join just GP. That's cheaper. If you join AP, GP comes with it. That's more expensive. They do have junior memberships, but since I'm way past that, I don't know what they run. I pay for a full AP membership. Right now they have a special running that is a Trial Membership. Call either pro shop and they can give you the details.
