A proper fitting

Houston area fitters

I am sick and tired of GOLFSMITH and GOLF GALAXY. I just don't think those two places are intimate enough to conduct a proper fitting, as all the salesmen want to do is sale. Can anybody tell me a good place to get fitted in the Houston Area??? I'm despirate!!!

This fitting is for a driver.

There's a place on the southwest freeway called the Sports Shoppe that a buddy of mine goes to. I don't know if he actually does the fitting but he will refer you to someone who can.

T-1. Bob's Golf Westheimer @ Voss (hilcroft). Don't let the stupid commercials fool you. Bob Carroll's a straight shooter who knows a TON about equipment. He knows his stuff backwards and forwards, and he won't sell you anything you don't need. Period. He has a vector and access to just about every shaft under the sun. He's honest to a fault. Bob does all his own club work, he's fast and the job's always done perfeclty.

T-1. Strictly Golf San Felipe @ 610. Steve's a great guy who knows golf equipment backwards and forwards. Great place to find hard to find brands like Srixon, Tour Stage, and Bridgestone. Probably the best selection of used equipment in town, lots of tour clubs here. They have an in house clubmaker who's a little slow to do repairs, but he does decent work.

2. Golf ETC clear lake. I've got a friend who SWEARS by the guys down there, I've heard nothing but good things about them. Hotstix fitting system, SST puring, all the bells and whistles a golfer could want.

3. Golf Matrix Beltway 8 @ Hardy Toll Road. Just opened a little while back, have heard good things about them, haven't been there myself.

I'd stay away from Custom Clubs by Larry Gibson. He knows his stuff, and has a great staff. However, he's going to push you towards high end stuff. Tour concept, PX iron shafts, stuff you may not really need or that has similar but cheaper equivalents on the market.

Highlander Custom in the woodlands used to be a good place to go, but they've closed :crazy:
