my swing. one iron and one of the driver. why do i drop it?

I finally videotaped it and noticed what i was doing wrong all these years.
I noticed my hips rotate too much on the backswing. This causes me to straighten my right leg and lose distance. The rotation also makes my first move from the top slightly downward. it is not terribly hard to see in the video but sort of. I also have my chin into my chest too much which keeps me from getting a full shoulder turn. I fixed this by the second video taken a few days later.

I cant believe i played to a 4 with this swing!! Ugh

I am going to work on less hip rotation and more shoulder turn or the same shoulder turn. I carry it about 290 now so I should pick up some distance with a bigger x-factor :crazy: And be more consistent since i will be hitting the ball more solid.

i dont know why i drop it. I take it a little outside the plane to compensate but I would still like to be on plane the entire time. Any reason you can see?

I think one thing you really need to look at is your posture. Notice how you a slumped over at address and at impact you are standing up to make your spine straight. Start taller....

this will definitely help. When I started looking at my swing on video it was the first thing I noticed. For me standing more upright got my swing steeper so I'm hitting the ball higher with more spin.

 

page through hogan's book while looking at your video's, you'll discover a lot of little things that will get you more consistant.

Your posture in the video with the driver is decent, where you mess up is at impact, your posture gets more vertical, which is not a good thing. You need to maintain your spine angle throughout the entire swing, at least until follow through. Try making 75% swings focusing on keeping a constant angle through impact. Standing more straight will not help, it will hurt. There is a link in golfdigest.com where you can view PGA players swing from behind and front, I suggest looking at those and compare your own, focusing on how they maintain their angle throughout the swing. i use to have the same problem, my coach found me a rubberband like tubing, and u put the band around the top of ur left knee and thru the middle of ur right knee, if u straigtin ur leg it will fall down, if u dont understand, or need some help feel free to leave a messgae
