That makes perfect sense; the 425 has been out for all of 10 minutes after all...they have to keep things fresh after all.

God I hate TM's business model...I'm going to sell all of my TM crap.

I agree, TM has to be kidding me. Your clubs are out dated before you even have a chance to break them in. Whether or not they make a ton of money this way I can tell you they're going to lose alot of players' loyalties.

I had the R5 tp and my $600 club was out dated within a couple of weeks by the 425 and then the 460 model came out, now ther's a 460 tp? What's next a 460 quad, then in 4 months the 460 quad tp.

Why do you have to have the latest driver they sell? All of those clubs do not have the same target market. If you had the R5TP, why would you be interested in the 425 in any version? If you are going to dial back the size, then the R7 and R510 come into play. Also if you have the R5 why go to the 460? For 10cc? that 2.22% size increas would net you what?

If you have to buy everything that they produce you will lose your mind. It is the indian and not the arrow, find something that works and stick with it.

Me, I tend to buy them used for half the price. I have an R7 TP and love the club. TM bringing out new drivers does not tempt me in the least.

I agree completely. Just because a new driver comes out, doens't mean you have to buy it. Enjoy what you have.

i found a pic on ebay;

I saw that too. I think the asking price is a bit ridiculous.

thats a tour issued 460 TP pic off of Ebay and the last one with a Ozik Code 6 brought in 1249.00 to be exact :idhitit:

Do you really think it's going to make a difference if for example Bob has a "Tour Issue" R7 TP and Jim has an R7 TP bought from GolfSmith? I don't think Bob has any advantage. :friends:

Since Taylormade says that they are the exact same driver, I doubt it. The one that KILLS me is the tour issue TLC weights that people sell for 2-3 times the "retail" weights. They are odd values and the retail are evens. Please tell me how that is worth the $ and how that will affect your game :pimp:

I have a problem with people who say that the tour issue stuff is night and day different. For some maybe, but for 98% of the people it does not matter. $ spent on lessons is money spent wisely. When you get to a 5 or less go for some equipment, but even then I have to question the merrits of it all.

I am never going to get into a Retail VS. Tour debate, thats a tough one. But I do have a bit of info that has lead me to believe 99% of amatures cant tell the difference. I have explained it before but just so this thread doesnt get out of hand, there is no major difference. Yes their are some small tweaks here and there but nothing worth the price people are asking for tour issued drivers. Just MHO. Its bling factor. What is Bling worth? Thats different for everyone and is usually determined by a persons checkbook or connections. These clubs make me think of a tour issue Cameron. Are they that much better? probably not, But Damn they are cool to have!

Finally, Dont be hater just take it with a grain of salt. My last point is this. Even though TM comes out with new drivers every month they are still easier to sell than a 400.00 out of date Callaway, Titleist, Bridgestone etc. Show me the previous years driver from any other Company besides TM and I will show you a driver that gets handed down to your wifes friends son or daughter! Its not New and your almost embarrassed to to give it away or ask 100.00 for it but you still try to get rid of it because you know none of your friends will buy it. You know its true!!!!! :friends: :idhitit:

  • 1 month later...

I don't get it... Ok, the 460 and 425 non-TP go for $399 today. It looks like the 460 TP will retail for $599. Why in the hell is the 425 TP still retailing for $799?? It's got the same shaft! Like a few additional TLC weights can justify that price difference. No logic there.

My guess is you're paying extra for a smaller club head and two extra moveable weights that allow the most customization.

I just picked up a R580XD TP 9.5* from golfsmith today for $143.50. Loved their used section. Esp in Orlando where you can find tour leftovers.

Hope I can hit it.

I'm sure it will be a nice club but I cannot beleive people are willing to pay between $600 and $800 for a driver when there are so many good clubs out there for $299
