A Ball that doesn't scuff?

Have been using Nike One Platinum balls but they scuff like crazy (on every wedge shot). I was thinking of trying the one black and the pro v1x but i don't know if i swing hard enough for them. I can't stand the scuffing so i am thinking of trying the other balls anyway. Anyone else scuff their balls and went to a different one? I tried the Titleist SoLo as well and I scuffed those too....

The new Callaway balls have a much improved cover, you might want to give them a shot. Much more cut resistant, they used to be as bad as the Bridgestone balls in terms of shredding, but now are one of the best IMHO.

 

What kind of wedges do you have? With all the new milled, mack daddy, and yo-yo grooves on the market, a certain amount of scuffing's just going to be a part of the game from here on unfortunately.

yeah, i do have spin milled wedges, but there really isn't ANY high performance ball that doesnt scuff with these wedges??

Not in my experience, if you hit the ball cleanly with a descending blow, you're going to get scuffing with spin milleds.

 

The shredding was horrible at first, balls were unplayable. However, after a month of range time, the grooves dulled down to where the scuffing is usually managable.

 

I definately go through more golf balls, but the spin around the greens especially on little chips and pitches is well worth it.

 

I also think it's worth noting that 2 piece balls and surlyn covers tend to scuff more than the premium balls since their covers are harder, they don't give as much and cut easier. They're not as bad since it's a lot easier to toss a $2 ball in the shag bag, but you'll probably be tossing more of them.

They all scuff just part of the game with new wedges.

Nike One Black's, as well as the Nike Super Soft, seem to hold up pretty well. That stated, I personally think that the ProV1 is about as durable a ball as you can find.

I'm using Titleist DT So-Lo. Not a bad ball for feel, a little hard if you compare to NXT tour. But the cover really last. :crazy:

I have Nike TW wedges, so I don't have the problem with scuffing. However, you can see why the professionals change their ball every couple of holes, because their wedges are ripping them to pieces!
