The folks at Athletes' Performance and the Kinetic Golf Academy have teamed up for what they are calling The Ultimate Golf Week.  I wanted to find out more about it, so I called Jaclyn Wynn, Athlete Sales Rep at Athletes' Performance in Tempe and the contact for the program.

Better Golf with Fitness: What is the Ultimate Golf Week?

Jaclyn Wynn: Athletes' Performance and the Kinetic Golf Academy have teamed up to provide the Ultimate Golf Evaluation & Performance Week for the Executive Golfer.  The program was created to allow golfers to objectively improve their performance and efficiency through a structured curriculum designed to enhance the golfer's swing, mind, and body. Athletes' Performance will conduct a physical analysis to identify strengths and limiting factors in the players' body and write a strength and conditioning program based on the athlete's needs.

The Kinetic Golf Academy's golf program will utilize the Kinetic Swing System, a science-based teaching methodology that will significantly and objectively enhance swing mechanics from the ground up. The Kinetic Swing System is an innovative scientific model for power and efficiency in the golf swing. Participants will learn to utilize the body's innate ability to transfer energy from the ground up through each segment of the body and into the golf club. The model creates maximum acceleration of the golf club at the point of impact and reduces the risk of injury to the body.

BGwF: Wow, that sounds like a lot for 1 week.  Will participants get to play golf or is it all practice?

JW:  We have a 4-day Ultimate Golf Week and a 6-day Ultimate Golf Week. The 6-day program plays an 18-hole round in the middle of the week.

BGwF:  Take us through a typical day at The Ultimate Golf Week.

JW: The first day, we do all of the physical assessments, educational lectures and  practical workshops in the gym (Core 101, Movement Preparation, Energy System Development). We also do the golf swing analysis in the afternoon.

This is a typical schedule for the first day...

7:15-8:00 AM   Check-in & Breakfast

8:00-8:30 AM   Orientation

8:30 - 9:55 AM   Physical Assessments (Sub-max VO2, Body Fat%, Functional Movement Screen)

9:55 - 10:00 AM    Order Lunch

10:00-11:00 AM  Core 101

11:00-11:30 AM  Movement Prep

11:30-12:30 PM    Nutrition Presentation over Lunch

1:00-1:45 PM   ESD Workout

1:45-2:15 PM   Regeneration in pools - Cold Plunge

3:00 -5:00 PM    Data collection and Intro to the first couple levels of pyramid-Kinetic Golf Academy

On the other days, we do our workouts in the morning and the golf swing instruction in the afternoon.This is a typical schedule for the other days...

7:15 - 8:00 AM   Breakfast

8:00- 10:00 AM   Strength Training (Medicine ball, Mobility, Stability, Rotary strength, Pre-hab and strength training)

10:00-12:00  Break/Lunch

1:00-4:00 PM   Bio Mechanical Analysis/Golf Instruction @ Legacy

4:00 PM   Option to go play a few holes on the course

BGwF: What will be covered in terms of the fitness aspect of the week?

JW: All the components of fitness are included.  Students will learn the true meaning of "core" and why it is so important to golf and "the game of life".  They will learn how to warm up before their workouts as well as their golf game with Movement Preparation.  Workouts will include Stability, Pre-hab, Rotary and Strength training for maximum performance enhancement. 
Also included are two of the most neglected pieces of the fitness puzzle, Nutrition and Regeneration Techniques.  There will be a Nutrition 101 seminar with breakfast and lunch (included in the price) made by our on-premise chef. 
For regeneration, participants will learn Active Isolated Stretching, how to use the foam roll and get to use our hot/cold plunge pools after all of their hard work.

BGwF: Will participants get a workout program to take home?

JW: Yes. All of our athletes that train with us will leave here with their program so they can keep implementing the program at home.  They will also get a FREE 1 year membership to CorePerformance.com

BGwF: What is the cost for the week?
JW: 4-day (Wed-Sat) $3,500 which includes accommodations at a 4 Star Resort and breakfast & lunch during the week days
6-day (Mon-Sat) $4,200 which includes accommodations at a 4 star resort and breakfast & lunch during the week days

BGwF: Both packages sound great.  What I like about it is the limited number of participants (only 4!), it makes for a much greater experience.  I have been to Athletes' Performance twice (not for the Ultimate Golf Week) and both experiences have been nothing short of outstanding.  The staff is professional and extremely knowledgeable; the best in the business.  It was worth every penny.
