golfwrx outing dallas(grapevine) area

Staying at Great Wolf Lodge from 7/29 thru 8/1 and would like to play Friday the 30th(anytime) or Saturday the 31st(morning). I know it's 2 months away but would like to get a list of wrx'ers and a reasonably priced course to play at. Anything under a $80 is reasonable to me. I got permission from the boss(wife) so would like to take advantage of this time to play golf while i'm in Grapevine!! Oh she will be 8 month's pregnant which makes it more sweat to go play!

Anybody want to plan to play in this wrx outing?

What would be some decent (with good greens) courses in the Grapevine area for $80 and less?

Grapevine (City Of) is a great course actually. Cowboys is right by it. Bear Creek is another, the list goes on and on.

That doesn't have every course, but it has most of them. Near the great wolf lodge I'd look at these courses:

Grapevine
Indian Creek - Creeks
Texas Star
Sky Creek

That's basically in order of cost, low to high. Sky creek and texas star is around your limit.

Oh, and to the good greens desire, it seems like the spring we had really made the greens crap this year. So it's good to try to find someone who's played the course recently since some that are normally decent are horrible now.

I played Indian Creek las weekend and they were decent, a few dry spots that were really quick which made it a challenge, but no huge dead sections like some other courses around here. Texas Star and Sky Creek both have greens in good shape right now.

I would be interested. There are plenty of courses that are $80 or less in the area that are decent. I like Frisco Lakes, Coyote Ridge etc.

For the money you can't go wrong playing Grapevine. 3 nines, $54 for the weekend w/cart, north about 1 mile away. Cowboys is ok, right next door to Grapevine on the same land, overrated in my opinion and at $170.00 does not meet my needs, 3 rounds a Grapevine and still have $$ left over. Another great track which is where I play a lot and a men's league member is Bridlewood, $70 only a couple of miles north of Grapvine, long, plush and for being fairly flat I promise will still test you, always in great shape, Bent greens are soft and hold well. Texas Star and Sky Creek are also great courses but will be a little longer drive and $80+. Bear Creekat DFW airport is ok and can usually catch an internet spwcial for $35-45 on the weekends. Hopefully the humidity will be gone and it will be cooler, lately it has been a b**** :-)

Looks like Bear Creek in mid-morning time frame. Weather says 101* for the weekend, so I don't want to start too late, but coming from McKinney it's 40 minutes to Bear Creek for me so a 8am tee-time isn't going to work.

So far if you're in that makes 3. A few of the nicer courses that were close as well, were packed and couldn't get us on till 3 or 4pm. I tried to get a tee-time on their site, but was having trouble. I'm going to try golfnow.com again in the A.M.

Chiming in a little late, but in that price range and general location I would recommend Texas Star over Bear Creek.
