Perfect Club, am I doing something wrong?

Can't hit it to save my life
Maybe I'm a sucker, but after all the commercials and the hype about the Perfect Club line, and really wanting to improve my game (started late in life, lot of catching up to do :friends: ) I bought the Perfect Accuracy model (a 21* fairway). I've given this club every chance in the world, and I just can't seem to get any results out of it. Every once in a while I get a decent hit, but never the promised accuracy and distance. Most of the time I feel like I have to hunch over too far to hit it, and I feel off balance. I don't think it's my swing, as I don't have the same problems with my CPR hybrids.

Anyone else have any experience/feedback with the Perfect Club line?

I bought into the infomercial hype (thanks Peter) about the Perfect Club two seasons ago (I think) and bought the club and averaged 3 good shots out of 10 with it. The final one was followed by the club being broken into 3 pieces over my knee and deposited in the nearest trash can. But maybe it was just me.. :friends: .....

:idhitit: Check your ball position and swing plain. I used the Perfect Clubs for several years after taking up the game at age 56 or so. Found them to be very effective and satisfying. Actually I feel they are as advertised you still have to put the club on the ball. Swing flaws will still be reflected. Ease up and don't overpower the ball. I moved away from them because I made a conscious effort to learn to use other clubs (irons, hybrids, etc) Poor reason but thats why we have several drivers, a half dozen putters and sleeves of every ball known to man. :friends:

I think I've pretty well eliminated swing plane/ball address as an issue, as this is the only club in my bag giving me consistant problems. Maybe it's the shorter shaft length, don't know. My wife is using a few of the Perfect Clubs, and she loves them. Other than hunching over more to address the ball, which is really uncomfortable for me, is there anything else I might be doing wrong when hitting with a short shafted club?

You're probably trying to play it like a 5 wood when in fact it's meant to be played like a 5 iron.

I don't quite follow, could you expand on that?

I think what he was trying to say was that so sweep with woods and hit down on irons. Try treating the perfect club like a five iron and it should get better.

You are exactly right, the Perfect Club series is meant to be hit like irons, not woods. I think that's the mistake that most people make in hitting these clubs. However, even though my Pefect Spoon (18*) is my most accurate and workable club in my bag, I also have trouble hitting the Accuracy because the shaft is too short for my liking. That's why I stick w/ my 6-iron :friends:

Sorry to get off topic, but the Perfect Club Company is one shady place. I had a customer that bought the perfect Driver a month ago and it broke at the hosel and I called all 3 numbers they have on their website and all it says is leave a message. No one called me back all day yesterday. They should at least have a couple customer service people there to anser questions. I even called the number that was to purchase the club and it just said leave a message that all our customer service reps are busy. I call bull$&*# on that because I want to talk to someone. I think that is a big scam. If you cant stand behind your product then what kind of company are you. They may call me back today but they need to talk to you when you call, not leave a message.

I agree with your thought, ball near middle of stance, smooth comfortable swing. Definitely more of the iron swing as opposed to a sweep.

That could be it, I was thinking of it more as a fairway wood than an iron. Guess the advertising is misleading, as they state that the Perfect Plus replaces the 5 wood and utility clubs. Maybe I'll let it in the bag for 1 more trip, see what happens. Maybe...

I believe that even somewhere on the website or booklet it came with, it says to hit it like an iron. I had the exact same problem that you did in the beginning because it looks like a wood.

I didn't get a booklet with it, just a DVD that was so much like an infomercial I couldn't make it through 5 minutes. I was just going by their website which listed it as a 5 wood replacement. If it hits like an iron, maybe they should list it as a 4 iron replacement. JMHO...

If you check this link and click on each club for a description, it does say tha the Perfect Club replaces 3&4 irons and Perfect Accuracy replaces 5&6 irons, as well as their comparable woods.

The bottom line is that you should try hitting your club using a 5-iron swing than a 5-wood swing. Good luck! :friends:
