Are you using a hybrid or still using the long irons?

I still use my 4 iron but use a Nike SlingShot Tour 21* to replace my 3 iron, just so much easier and versatile, especially out of the rough.

I tried a bunch of hybrids, found I prefer an iron-like hybrid rather than a wood-ish one, so I took out my 5-wood and tried the hybrid for about six months. Eventually I decided that the one I bought had too much offset, and now I'm using an x-tour 2-iron...which is essentially a hybrid iron compared to the rest of my irons. Very nice.

 

Now X-Tours are on my short list for my next set of irons.

I'm still using my trusty old skool Callaway Big Bertha 1 iron. Just never found any thing to beat it!

i use a 15* bridgestone hybrid which is like a shallow fairway wood with a square face and no offset. i hit it further than many of the 15* 3woods i tested.. which had almost an extra 2 inches of shaft length. that obviously is my problem not those 3 woods.. as i feel more comfortable letting the hybrid rip. however i tested all the cally, taylor, nike, cleveland and sonartec hybrids and the bridgestone was the longest by a consistent 15 yards believe it or not. it's really a sweet club. great feel and suprisingly forgiving on minor mishits.

 

that said other hybrids i tested were not nearly as long. it definitely feels more like a fairway wood, thus i'm waiting for the 585h to replace my 3-iron (pending a test of course.. but that club looks incredible i can imagine what it feels like and the ball looks like flying off the club). the bridgestone will not be leaving the bag for years but i dont want to buy a higher lofted one as i'm looking for more of an ironwood to replace my 3 iron.

 

i have the fli hi I & II and i hit my 3 iron better. i need to reshaft the fli hi II with steel before i form a real opinion on those clubs but right now they're not in my bag. maybe too much offset on the II and the I feels a little dead to me although it's more reliable and easier to control than the II. hopefully the 585h comes out soon and i wont have to stress. not gonna buy anything until then.

Hybrids are in my bag to stay. I use them in place of a 2 and 3 iron which has been a blessing on those longer shots that used to make me a bit nervous.

Just went back to the two iron after playing a hybrid for a few months. I prefer the lower trajectory of the 2 iron in the crazy winds we get here in oklahoma. But I will keep a hybrid around for when the two iron swing goes south.

Still hitting long irons, but will have a 21* ironwood soon for only use on our long Par 3s and maybe for when the driver goes arye.

 

Our longest Par 3 measures right at 200 to 210 yards but has a deep green. It's a 'tweener for me with either a 3 or 4 iron depending on how I am hitting the ball on that day and windage. I usually hit 4 iron.

I love my TourStage FUT Hybrids.

 

I had my best luck with a steel shafted 19*, which replaces my 3 iron.

 

I'm going to throw and Ozik hybrid shaft in my 16* and see what results I get.

i have used a 2 i ron replacement for about 6 years now. i love it, for me it is earier to hit then the 2 was. I got a 4 iron replacement for christmas that hasnt left the closet. i still love my 3 and 4 irons.

I use 4 hybrids; 3i, 4i, 5i, 6i, they replace my 3,4,5,6,7 irons. They are all Cleveland Halos. I wouldn't givem' up for the world!! I am not a very good player and this has knocked off some strokes. I recommend them. :friends:

Had a 19* 503H for awhile to replace my 3 iron. But just couldnt hit it consistently so its out of the bag and on ebay. The 3 iron is workin just fine for me.

I'm still using my long irons. I carry a V-steel 7 wood though, which replaces my 2 iron. I don't know if that counts.

I'm carrying a 20* 3H Heavenwood and a 3 iron. There are times the 3 iron is the right stick, low trajectory, under limbs, into the wind etc. But if I need 200- 210 yds and a soft landing it's the 3H. I could easily use a 5W for that but the 3H is more versatile fo me. I do take the 3 iron out if I want to carry the 60* wedge.

I've been going back and forth between a 2 iron and hybrid for a couple years now (had much more success with a 2 iron than 5 wood). Never could get comfortable with a driving-iron style or wood style hybrid , until my Sonartec Md. I've got the 19* Md as my 2 iron replacement, and while I think the 3-PW set up fits my game best, am definitely not ruling out replacing the 3 with yet another Md.

I currently use a 18* and 22* hybrid and I don't carry a 3 or 4 iron as my hybrids work well enough for me to drop my irons and not lose and consistency in yardage.

Oh Yes. I Love my Cobra 20* 3/i Baffler with the aldila nv shaft.

 

It has Definitely saved me strokes.

i went with hybrids. got me a couple of the orignal nickents, but i recently hit the slingshot tour too and like it, but the nickents are working for me so they will stay for now.

Forget the hybrid, never could quite get the thing to work right. I love my long irons and fairway woods and will stick with them.

I still use my BB 06 3 & 4 iron since they are like hybrids anyway and are very easy to hit.

While I do own a hybrid, it hasn't see much time in the bag this year. I've been hitting my MP-60 3 iron pretty good, and don't see a reason to go back (subject to change tomorrow).

I have tried a number of hybrids and just can't get a consistant feel for any of them. I think I will go to a 7 wood and use that inplace of my three iron. Thant being said I have a number of hybrids for sale, cheap. LOL..............

I have many various hybrids (check my WITB page for details) and I haven't found one that hit anywhere near as good as the MacGregor MacTec NVG2! It's downright funny how easy this thing is to hit.

I use 19, 22 and 25 Silver Diamond T- series R5 hybrids with IROD shafts. I have removed the 3 and 4 irons.

I use a TM16* rescue in place of my 3 and 5 wood. I still hit my 3 iron decently enough to stick with it. The rescue is great though for my wood replacement since I find it more versatile and manageable while being nearly as long as the 3 wood on well struck shots.

I used a TM hybrid for about 3 years...I liked it a lot. I sold it because I've decided to boycott TM for various reasons...so I'm back to a 2 iron.

 

I'll likely pick up a new one this year though.
