Hawaii GolfWRX'er Outing

trying something different this time
Howzit Hawaii Room! :drinks: As many of you know, I play a weekly round with guys from the Hawaii Room. We were talking the other day how it's been ages since we had a Hawaii GolfWRX'er outing. Thing is...we attempted one last year but the turn out was pretty awful so we ended up cancelling it. I realize it can be a little intimidating heading to a golf course to meet some guys you don't know. Especially here in Hawaii where we're all Aloha and stuff..but still pretty private. Most importantly...we all no like make "A".

I know the first outing I organized I was a little worried I'd suck out on the course. Thankfully I didn't but still...it was great meeting new peeps who had similar interest in golf and clubs. Oddly enough..through several more outings...my new regular group is built from the guys I met at the outings. So although I was worried in the past about making "A" in front of strangers..I'm doing it on a regular basis now with people I call friends. :cheesy:

Through the years of the Hawaii room outings..I'm happy to say some of my closest friends were met here. There's no way I'd have met some of the people I play with weekly if not for the outings. Just in our Saturday group you've got me a Sheriff, a bonsai farmer/business guy, former golf pro now sandbagger, engineer, insurance boss, shaft rep/business guy. Pretty odd combination of guys...but we all share a ridiculous passion for golf and equipment. Our ages range from a young of 26-44...pretty wide gap but the group is very enjoyable and we have guys that always want to get in the group when we're short a player.

We've all networked together and through the years have done much together in business and other things. There are a lot of hidden talents that have been shared between us.

In an effort to bring more people together we came up with an idea. Instead of doing a golf outing where there might be an intimidation factor...how about a casual meeting where we could all just mingle and bs about this crazy sport that's got us spending so much time and money.

I met with the guys at Aloha Golf Center and suggested a get together at their shop. AGC is a new shop on the island but has quickly grown to be a meeting spot for many of the Hawaii room. AGC has offered to have the get together at their shop. All Hawaii members would have access to their Vector Launch Monitor. All members with time permitting can get their drivers analyzed and AGC will waive the normal $30 charge. If members want they'll also check your driver's CPM. All the free info you would need to find out if your driver is optimized for your use.

Another suggestion from a Hawaii GolfWRX'er was to have a swap meet. Bring all the stuff you'd like to get rid of or just show off. I know I've got a bunch of shafts I'd like to get rid of. I probably have a few too many spare putters as well. I'm not sure I'm ready to part with them..but who knows. Bring all the stuff you'd want to sell...and bring some cash to buy! :D

AGC has kindly offered to provide hotdogs/hamburgers/beverages for the get together. All we need to do now is figure out a date and an approximate number of guys attending.

Sooo....a get together, driver analysis, bunch of guys talking golf, and food. I'm IN...are you? :beach:

Okay..the usual suspects are all in. :mug: What a surprise. NOT! :WTF:

I can see if we were all teeing it up at some course peeps might not want to dive in and play a round with a stranger..but meeting at a golf shop? C'mon..I can count on all my fingers and toes the amount of times I was at Roots when some guy came up to me and asked if I was "pitbull" and then went on to ask me my take on some new club, shaft, putter. This is your best opportunity to speak to other guys with a similar crazy interest in golf and equipment all in one location.

Bring your bags, bring your spare sticks, bring your spare shafts. Eat some food, hit on the launch monitor and jus talk story. No big deal. I'll even throw in a dozen balls....who can hit the highest swing speed on the launch monitor. Of course...I'll be pumping weights till the day we have it so I can up my chances in not giving them out. :bb2:

Who else is IN?? :friends:

Okay....in an effort to drum up more excitement and NEW people to join us in this meet/greet/swap/fun outing.....Aloha Golf Center has offered a $100 gift card for a contest they'd like to have.

Everyone who goes on the launch monitor will guess their club speed/swing speed/ballspeed. The person who swings as close to his guess will win the $100 gift card towards the purchase of any Oban driver shaft! :clapping:

Dates...how are Saturdays for everyone??? I'm thinking August 14 or 21?

What's good for you?? and a big MAHALO to AGC for putting up such a great prize. My dozen Pink Precepts is looking shabby now! :cheesy:

I'll be out of town on the 21st for a conference. Jose will be at the same conference too. So the 14th works better for the two of us.

As long as you don't beat da master too bad or he'll get a sissy fit.

Okay...August 28 is looking like it's going to be the date. That gives everyone a month to get your tee time in the morning...get some prices for what you want to sell/swap...and get your swing on! :clapping:
