Would you Pay $75 a Dozen for Golf Balls?

Dixon Golf just came out with a new high-performance golf ball called the "Fire" that retails for $75 a dozen. Would any of you pay that? What is your budget for golf balls... mine is around $40.

I don't mind paying more for ball for tournaments. For practice and practice rounds I normally use a ball that runs around $30.

I'd be curious as to what kind of balls these are? Are there any advantages of them over another premium ball.

Also, it would need to have MWT, FCT, and include a wrench.

LOL, $75 is cheap! I live in Switzerland and here the Titleist Pro V1 are retailing at $88 the dozen (versus around $45 in the USA). And people are still buying them :-))) Not me though, I buy them recycled at around $25.

They would have to come with a tracking device and float on water for me to buy those balls. Oh, and they better go where I tell them to go.

haha, you're right. I saw them selling around that price at Foxtown.

To put this into perspective, that's $6.25 per ball. ProVs are $3.75, Callaways and others are $3.60 (approx), TopFlite Gamer V2s are $1.35 - I'll buy any of those. Also, isn't the recycling of golfballs, via used ball suppliers, already a robust business that at least reduces the overall number of balls produced by the industry? I applaud the effort to go green, but not at any cost.

Do they have "pin seeker" technology? If so, then ill take 2 dozen. If not, then ill stick to my budget for balls which is the $20 I have to pay for a dozen Bstone e6+.

Well, if you are unfortunate enough to have to buy brand name new balls off the counter of any of my local courses, they are running about 5-6 per ball in 3 packs so they are not far off.....

But no, I would not as the MINT balls from KNET suit me just fine :-)

After paying for $20/dozen for TP Reds for so long, I don't think I could spend anymore than $30 ever again...

ProV1 retails for $60. That's $5 per ball.

The fact that these are going to RETAIL for $75 does not mean that's what the stores are going to sell them for.

Either way, I'm not buying them.

i play the Earth balls...never paid more than 40 bucks a dozen.

actually picked a bunch up on ebay for 25.00. these were the 'performance' ball from Dixon prior to the new one, i guess.

regardless...i'm not buying any ball for 75/doz. no way.

I like nice golf equipment too...but you know...if we all would ban together and stop paying for $600 drivers, $300 green fees, and now $75 golf balls, we would all be better off.

First fix the demand....the supply will follow.

I don't have a golf anything budget. My buying habits are based upon "value". I play Callaway i(z) which isn't inexpensive yet worth their price. Fortunately a ball lasts for 3-5 rds, and I seldom loose a ball. But, with that said, essentially golf balls are disposable. Now, after all that if Callaway introduced a $75 golf ball, I doubt I'd buy it with so many other quality balls around.

Reidman, in an ideal world you're right... however there's absolutely nothing ideal about our world, let along the sport of golf. Judgment has a better chance of influencing then boycotting costly goods.
