Very RARE - Face Balanced T.P. Mills putters

very nice!!!
These came in today. Two very rare putters, but David finally did a couple. They are Face Balanced Softtail long necks.

One of the things that you must have with a face balanced putter is a unusually heavy head to maintain the balance of the putting stroke. These two putters are great examples. They are both softtails with long necks and weigh in at more than 370 grams per head.

the two finishes are satin and aged nickel.

Let me know your thoughts.

thanks
Jay

Wow, Jay--that is extremely impressive. :yahoo: I would have thought that the Softtail would have been the least likely of the Mills' lineup to be face balanced, what with all the weight swept toward the toe and all. But these were pulled off very nicely. Can you take any pics from address? I've got a pair of Anser 5's (face-balanced longnecked pings), but the offset is ungodly and the hosel location is more centered (mid forward of heel) than I would like. Once again, great pics Jay. :yahoo:

Thanks Jay, again . . . very nice. :yahoo: I'm liking the satin all the more (satin nickel, correct?). I think your pictures are pretty clear though. Here's the Ping's mid-hosel position, and address pic showing the offset (poorly)--much more dramatic in both aspects than the Mills. I do like the TPM stamping in the cavity too--the only stamping I don't particularly care for from the Mills camp are the dancing shapes all over the sole (I know jgalls has one or two). Doesn't blend with the classic, traditional shapes (pun) too well. Other than that, his custom putters keep me wanting more--even if only digitally. :yahoo:

that is one of the things that really sets David's putters apart from others. All of the hosels are welded to the heads, so he can literally do any type of toe hang with any style head he mills. if he would have moved the hosel back 1/4 of an inch, you would have a normal plumbers neck and would not have to worry about re-shaping the toe.

I am really surprised that these two heads don't have any alignment aids on them at all. nothing on the top line or the flange. gives them a really clean look at address.

Jay,

Hope you know what kind of a home these two came from!!

Thank the Lord they were "inland"

Glad you guys are enjoying the putters, Jay and I have "joint custody" for now. Every once in a while we send each other a box with something inside. I have to support my employer and bring some joy to a poor overworked car salesman.

Those putters look amazing. Any Idea what the wait time is right now for a custom putter from him. Last time I e-mailed him he said 3 weeks. Is this still correct?

it is probably that long. I talked to him yesterday and he said he had enough to keep him busy until the end of July, but we are going on a trip later in the month and that will last a few days. So, three weeks is pretty close.

I just received my custom Softtail from David. It looks sweet. It did take longer than 3 weeks though.

My question for you is how can I get one of those cool blue headcovers like you have as your avitar?
