Single with afternoon flight
Heading out to San Francisco for an IT conference at the Moscone center (08.29-09.02). I fly out on 09.03 at 3PM from SFO. Any chance of me getting to play Harding Park on Friday morning before I fly out?

Early morning won't bother me. I'll be cabbing it from the hotel and to the airport.

I'll have my bags with me so I'll need to store them do they have a locker room?

Open to Olympic and Presidio as well!!

TIA!!

Dunno. However I've been wanting to play Harding for some time now. Do you have a group already?

If you you need a partner let me know. I'm about a 2 hour drive with morning traffic

Not sure about the luggage storage but you will love the course. You will love the
weather even more. Left the SE US with temps near 100 in the middle of August a
few years ago and played Harding Park with temps in the mid 50's............PRICELESS

Why not give the pro shop a call?

Be careful what you wish for. I cut my golf teeth on Harding and carry a SF Residents Card which yields deep discounts on the course. Two weeks ago I played Harding at twilight and walked for a seemingly reasonable $36. Where do I begin....the fairways were all cut up, many bunkers were marked GUR, many gaping holes with partially installed drainage pipes, #6 (one of the better holes) had been shortened to a par 3. $36 green fees were about $35 too much. If you have to pay $150 as a walk on tourist, I pity the fool. Sorry to rain on your parade.

If you know someone here, try to get out on Olympic. Next best would be the second oldest course west of the Mississippi - Presidio. Depending on which airport you fly out of, Metro near Oakland Airport would offer better conditions and more fun. Nearby Metro, Monarch Bay, although somewhat repetitious would offer beautiful vistas of SF and perhaps some challenging wind on a links style layout.

To the best of my knowledge, I have yet to see a public locker room at Harding.....find someone who can get you on to Olympic and all of your needs and expectation will be met or surpassed.

Go Bears!

I would assume they are doing some prep work before the Charels Schwab Cup Championship is played there in November?

They are getting ready for the Charles Schwab Cup. Just like shade thrower said its a little torn up right now. I play in a group on sunday mornings and will update if they finish before your trip. Presidio is a nice alt. great track great views.

It's true. If you are an SF resident, it's a good deal playing there. But at those high priced out-of-towner rates ($170) on Fri), it's just not worth it.

Thanks for the input I was going to call the pro shop but figured I'd check with the board first. Sounds like a good thing I did if I'm going to pay that kind of money I would expect it to be in better condition.

I'll check out Presidio.

Anyone have any contacts at Olympic club? :) Would love to get out there!

I'm flying out of SFO at 3PM

Thanks again!

Echo the other sentiments that Harding is not in good shape. Was in great shape prior to and immediately following President's Cup. Not worth.

golfnow.com has some decent deals for Presidio on occasion, good luck!

I was in SF in June from Australia and we all wanted to play Harding so we booked it, forked out $135 and were very disappointed. I would not pay more than $40 to play that here. It was just a tore up public course. Played with a local who payed $46. He said they shut the course for 2 months before the big tournaments.

C'mon mannnnn, you could've called the pro shop if those were your questions. Be honest and just say you were looking for a discount/someone to play with, you'll feel better afterwards.

Was in San Fran a couple years ago a few months before the President's Cup and played Harding Park. Played as a tourist (i.e. - dished out $200 incl club rental) and had no trouble getting on.

There were 3 of us and each of us came away with a 'meh' for Harding Park. None of us had played on a course where a PGA event was to be played which is why we chose it. The course was in good shape but there was no wow factor on any hole. Layout is no better than the local courses I play up here in Saskatchewan - in fact, there's better courses here IMO. The coolest thing (by far) were the trees and how huge they are. I wouldn't say we regret playing it (as I said, we wanted to play a course that a PGA event was to be played on) but I'm positive with a bit more research we could've found a better course and a MUCH lower price in the area.

Last time I was in San Fran for an IT conference (RSA 2009) ... I called up the pro at Presido and asked for some tee times. I was looking for back to back rounds there and he cut me a really nice deal since I was just a single.

Great course, paired up with great locals ... probably a 15 minute cab right north of Moscone.
